Pray for the Church
Praise God for who He is and for the gracious revelation of Himself to us through His Word. Thank Him for all He has done throughout history and in each of our individual lives. Pray for God to continue to redeem us from sin and to keep us from temptation. Thank Him for His provision of your daily needs. Pray for those in your life you know are in need of God’s sustaining grace. Pray for the Spirit’s guidance as you seek to follow God wherever He leads. Thank God for hearing and answering our prayers.
Pray for the City
As we approach the January 16 national holiday honoring Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and work, we are praying for racial unity within the
Body of Christ in Birmingham for the sake of gospel advancement, credible witness, local church strength, and to accurately display God’s character and glory in Birmingham. We are also praying for Greater Shiloh Baptist Church and Pastor Michael Wesley.
DAY 1: Pray for churches in Birmingham to reflect the unity of the Spirit by initiating partnerships with one another to display,
demonstrate, and declare the gospel together across our city.
DAY 2: Pray for all believers across Birmingham to be ambassadors of reconciliation, pursuing unity with believers of other ethnicities and showing love, grace, hospitality, and humility in a way that displays Christ’s character to the entire city.
DAY 3: Pray for the advancement of the gospel and the planting of new churches throughout Birmingham among all ethnicities and within
all communities, especially those affected by high crime rates and high poverty.
DAY 4: Pray that the Spirit would lead Christians of all ethnicities to walk in forgiveness, extending grace to those who have caused division or have acted unjustly in their prejudices.
DAY 5: Pray that evangelical church leaders across the city would be willing to mobilize their people to make disciples in areas that are
isolated from the Church and where demonstrations of the gospel through good works are greatly needed.
DAY 6: Pray for God to make all believers in the city aware of our own sin, ignorance, ethnocentrism, prejudices, and apathy, and
that He would use our faith family to tear down the barriers that often divide His Body.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the two families we commissioned out Sunday to the Middle East (Britten and Brook) and to East Asia (Phillip and Stacie). Both of these families are part of two of our International Church Planting Teams sent from The Church at Brook Hills. Join us
this week as we thank God for calling these two families to Long-Term work and pray for them as they transition to their new homes. We anticipate with joy how God will use these families to make His name known among unreached people groups around the world. For more information on the East Asia and Middle East Church Planting Teams visit www.brookhills.org/church-multiplication.
DAY 1: Britten and Brook lead our Middle East Church Planting Team and have been in Birmingham with us for the past six months on their stateside visit. Praise God for our time with them. Pray for God to give mercy as they transition back to their home in the Middle East.
DAY 2: Britten and Brook serve among one of the hardest unreached people groups in the world. Pray for the gospel to be made clear through their family as they speak truth and share the good news of Christ (Acts 13:16-47).
DAY 3: Pray for God to use both of these families to make disciples (Acts 14:21-23) and to multiply His church among unreached peoples (Acts 14:24-28).
DAY 4: Phillip and Stacie are joining the East Asia Church Planting Team as Long-Term workers. Pray for their family as they move to
East Asia and get settled into their new home. Pray for God’s supernatural power to accompany them as they go (Acts 14:3).
DAY 5: Phillip and Stacie will be engaging one of the most difficult and hard-hearted unreached people groups in the world. Pray for
God to make them confident in His Word (Acts 13:4-5) and to give them success in gospel witness (Acts 13:12).
DAY 6: Pray for God to fill both of these families with His Spirit (Acts 13:6-9) and to open the hearts of men and women around them in
East Asia and the Middle East (Acts 13:48). May God receive honor and glory.
