Pray for the Church
Praise God for the advancement of His gospel throughout the world. Pray for strength and perseverance in the face of adversity we will all face because of our faith. Ask God to continue to grow our boldness in witness to the gospel. Pray we will all make the most of every opportunity to proclaim the gospel with which we are presented. Pray we will be obedient to the commands of God regardless of what risk it may involve. Thank God that the preaching and teaching of His gospel has never ceased throughout the ages and for the opportunity we have to be a part of it.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for the Apartment Life CARES Team led by Brook Hills members Steve and Karen Dewhirst. Apartment Life sends CARES Teams to live onsite in apartment communities and live out God’s calling to love their neighbors through practical, intentional, and everyday ways. Steve and Karen serve as a CARES team for The Point at Oak Mountain. We are also praying for NorthPark Baptist Church, and Pastor Bill Wilks.
Day 1: Pray for creativity, intentionality, and open doors as Steve and Karen work to meet new residents at The Point from a wide range of people groups. Pray they will be able to see and meet the needs of those who are hurting.
Day 2: Pray for the new property manager at The Point at Oak Mountain and for cooperation with and favor toward the Dewhirst’s as they collaborate for the good of their community.
Day 3: Pray for other Christ-followers living at The Point to come alongside Steve and Karen to reach their community, lead Bible studies, pray for the neighborhood, and serve their neighbors.
Day 4: Pray Steve and Karen will have abundant opportunities for spiritual discussions and gospel proclamation and will be bold and wise as they yield to the Spirit’s leadership.
Day 5: Pray for the residents’ hearts to be open to the gospel and for many to put their faith in Jesus and begin to gather with other believers to study God’s Word and obey Christ together.
Day 6: Pray Steve and Karen will not grow weary of serving and sharing with their neighbors, but will patiently wait on the Lord to bring growth to the gospel seeds they have planted.
Pray for the World
This week marked five years since the beginning of the conflict in Syria that has led us to the refugee crisis our world is experiencing. This week we want to continue praying for the people of Syria and the millions of refugees who are being affected by this conflict in their country. We are also praying for Brook Hills field partners who are working among Syrian refugees displaced by war in neighboring countries. Join us this week as we pray for Syria’s people. If you are interested in joining a Short-Term team that will be serving among Syrian refugees, visit the Global kiosk in the lobby or contact fox@brookhills.org.
Day 1: It is estimated that over 6.5 million Syrians have become displaced because of the war and over 4 million of those are refugees. Pray for God to comfort those who have fled and now find refuge in different countries.
Day 2: Pray for God, the O ne who has all power over creation and history, to bring about peace in Syria for the good of those who live there and for His glory among all nations. Pray for God to move and give wisdom and fortitude to world leaders who will gather in Geneva on March 30th to make decisions about the crisis.
Day 3: Pray for God to use this turmoil to bring openness to the gospel, and that many will become transformed by Christ and become reproducing disciple-makers.
Day 4: In many instances, churches and believers in other countries are reaching out to help provide for the physical needs of many Syrian refugees. Many Syrians are hearing the gospel for the first time. Pray for God to open the hearts of Syrians to Christ who can save them.
Day 5: Pray for Brook Hills partners in Turkey and Jordan who are currently receiving Syrian refugees into their countries. Pray for God to give wisdom and resources to provide both physically and spiritually for those they are receiving. Pray for the church to extend its hand and welcome those who are displaced.
Day 6: There are thousands of Syrian children who have been forced to flee with their families. Pray for God to protect this generation of children who are experiencing harsh conditions and deadly realities.
