Scripture Memory
Pray for the Church
Praise God for granting us access to the gospel and leading us to faith and repentance. Pray we will all follow after Him in every aspect of our lives, and that He will unite us together in fellowship. Ask the Spirit to convict us of any sin in our lives and to grant us the strength to confess and repent. Ask God to make us bold in the sharing of the light of His gospel. Pray He will develop honesty and trustworthiness in each of us. Pray we will truly be a city on a hill, shining brightly to show others the way to God the Father through Jesus Christ the Son.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Hearts in Hands, Inc., a local non-profit ministry founded by members of Brook Hills, working in partnership with God’s people in the greater Birmingham area to provide critical home repair services and wheelchair ramp construction to widows and seniors who cannot afford them. Hearts in Hands strives to engage the poor with the gospel while meeting their physical needs. We are also praying for Chelsea Creek Community Church and Pastor Matthew Roskam.
DAY 1: Praise God for the free publicity that Hearts in Hands received in July, followed by an influx of service requests! Pray for God to sovereignly connect Hearts in Hands with the individuals who need this ministry the most.
DAY 2: Pray for those who are being touched by the ministry of Hearts in Hands. Pray for God to soften their hearts to the gospel and draw them to Himself.
DAY 3: Pray for the continued support of faithful volunteers who are willing to sacrifice their time and offer their hands to serve the needy in this community in the name of Jesus.
DAY 4: Pray for new volunteers to come alongside Hearts in Hands who are gifted in building relationships and sharing the gospel and are willing to spend time with clients before and after their physical needs are met.
DAY 5: Pray for wisdom for the Hearts in Hands leadership team as they prayerfully lead the organization in stewarding the resources that the Lord continues to provide.
DAY 6: Pray for God to use Hearts in Hands to glorify His name by making disciples all across Birmingham!
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for Carly C., a Brook Hills Mid-Termer serving in New York City this summer. Carly is working with Urban Nations Outreach engaging immigrant unreached people groups in New York City. Carly is part of a team of interns who are working with existing churches in the area to plant new churches among UPG’s. Praise God for the opportunity He has given Carly to participate in the advancement of His Kingdom to UPG’s living in NY. Join us this week as we pray for Carly and the work the Father is accomplishing through her this summer.
DAY 1: Carly is part of a team of 9 other interns from all over the world. Praise God for the team unity He has provided. Pray for continued unity and deeper joy as they serve one another and serve the community of UPG’s in their city.
DAY 2: Pray for each member of Carly’s team to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s guidance and obedient to open their mouths in boldness to share the good news of Christ.
DAY 3: One of Carly’s main roles is to support a church plant in Jackson Heights among South Asian peoples. At this church they study the Word and worship the Father in Bengali, Hindi, Tibetan, Nepali, and English. Pray for those seeking the truth to hear the gospel and find Christ.
DAY 4: Pray for the students at the ESL center where Carly serves. Pray for God to provide Carly with opportunities to build relationships and to have gospel conversations with the participants.
DAY 5: Pray for Carly to be obedient to serve and rely on the Father to give her everything she needs to be effective.
DAY 6: Pray for many in New York City to hear the good news of Christ, repent, and be saved.
