Pray for the Church
Praise God for the intimate communion we can have with Him. Ask Him to develop us all into people of prayer. Pray for unity among our faith family and with fellow Christ-followers. Thank Him for His sovereign work in the world.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Restoration Academy, a K-12 Christian school located in Fairfield with a mission to provide an excellent, Christ-centered education to students predominantly from lower-income families. Restoration Academy is committed to meeting individual students at their point of need, providing dynamic instruction and curriculum, competitive sports, and outlets for kids to grow into all that God desires while breaking generational cycles of poverty, violence, addiction, and fatherlessness. We’re also praying for Urban Hope Community Church and Pastor Alton Hardy.
Day 1: Pray for the administration, teachers, and volunteers at Restoration Academy who pour into the students under their care on a daily basis. Pray for them to walk in faithful obedience to God’s will and to be encouraged and strengthened by His Spirit.
Day 2: Pray for the weekly tutors who invest in the students, as well as for the volunteers who serve as teacher aides, classroom sponsors, and “Room Moms.” Pray for God to raise up additional tutors and mentors for this school.
Day 3: Pray for financial provision for Restoration Academy. Pray for more individuals and businesses to see the impact God is making on RA students and decide to join the effort to provide sponsorships and/or scholarships for students across Birmingham to be able to attend RA.
Day 4: Pray for opportunities for the gospel to be proclaimed to students who do not yet know Christ. It is the school’s goal that, upon graduation, each student would have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be committed to following Him.
Day 5: Pray for Restoration Academy as they seek to expand their impact and reach throughout the city. Pray for new programming, services, and opportunities for the students so that they may excel and fulfill the plans that God has laid out for them. Pray for these new programs and services to help students succeed in life, grow closer to God, and grow His Kingdom.
Day 6: Pray for protection for the Restoration Academy students, staff, and the entire city of Fairfield, as school shootings and community violence are at an all-time high in our country. Praise and thank God for placing His arms of protection around the Fairfield and RA communities and ask that He continue to keep them safe.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for our Mid-Termers, Parker and Kristin. They serve in Central Asia with a people group with whom The Church at Brook Hills is very invested.
Day 1: Pray for Parker and Kristin as they study the local languages. Not only are they studying Arabic, but also the local language of their people group. As you can imagine, this is intense. Pray for them to have minds to absorb all they need to know and hearts to remember why they are learning the language in the first place.
Day 2: Pray for their marriage. They have been married for two years and are still trying to find healthy rhythms together. Pray for their communication to be glorifying to the Lord. Pray for them to balance their responsibilities and their desire to form relationships with healthy rest.
Day 3: Parker has an opportunity to visit a local club within their local people group. He and another teammate are considered the “guests of honor.” Pray for their time with this large group of men. Pray they would be able to make connections and go deeper with these men. Pray for the gospel to permeate all their conversations.
Day 4: Pray for Kristin as she meets local women. Pray for her to be a light in the community and for women to want to know her and be willing to hear the gospel. Pray for her friend, H. Pray for Kristin as she navigates the local culture and language.
Day 5: Pray for their team. The team is relatively new. Pray for them as they continue to settle into routines with the team. Pray for unity in the Body of Christ. Pray for them to love each other well and to “outdo one another in showing honor.”
Day 6: Central Asia has an urgent prayer request for a new believer, *Adam. Our new brother returned home to visit his Muslim family. He is facing serious persecution. Adam’s father has seen Adam’s Bible and other Christian books. Adam said that he is not ok and that his situation is increasingly worse. Parker and Kristin’s team has asked that we beg God to give Adam wisdom, courage, and faith in His promises.
