Pray for the Church
Praise God for the sacrifice of Christ for our sins. Ask Him to expand our meditation on Christ this time of year from just the babe in the manger. Ask God to grow our understanding of who Christ is and what He accomplished for us. Pray we will all cast off the burdens of our sins to live confidently in our salvation through faith in Christ. Pray others will recognize their need for Christ’s sacrifice. Ask God to help us boldly and clearly articulate His life-giving gospel to a sinful world.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for King’s Home (kingshome.com), a Christian organization in Shelby County providing residential, home-like settings and resources for youth, women, and children seeking refuge, hope, and help from abuse, neglect, abandonment, homelessness, and other difficult and impoverished circumstances. We are also praying for 16th Street Baptist Church and Pastor Arthur Price.
Day 1: Pray for every woman and child who comes to King’s Home to receive the precious gift of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Day 2: Pray for God to provide adequate funding for King’s Home to meet and exceed the current ministry needs, including opening the
two closed homes in Tuscaloosa.
Day 3: Pray for the youth and children at King’s Home to make much progress emotionally, academically, and socially and to be shown how
to love and obey Christ. Pray for emotional healing for those coming out of hard places.
Day 4: Pray for all staffing and volunteer needs to be met so that the daily aspects of ministry can be carried out with care and excellence.
Day 5: Pray for God to provide skilled volunteers to help with the completion of needed repairs, maintenance, and remodeling for the
aging facilities.
Day 6: Pray for the King’s Home leadership team to be dependent upon the Holy Spirit for guidance, provision, and gospel transformation.
Pray for the World
Angels We Have Heard on High
Verse 1
Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing o'er the plains
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains
Chorus
Gloria in excelsis Deo
Gloria in excelsis Deo
Verse 2
Shepherds why this jubilee
Why your joyous strains prolong
What the gladsome tidings be
Which inspire your heavenly song
Verse 3
Come to Bethlehem and see
Christ whose birth the angels sing
Come adore on bended knee
Christ the Lord the newborn King
Verse 4
See Him in a manger laid
Whom the choirs of angels praise
Mary Joseph lend your aid
While our hearts in love we raise
Hark the Herald Angels Sing
Verse 1
Hark the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled
Joyful all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With th'angelic hosts proclaim
Christ is born in Bethlehem
Hark the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King
Verse 2
Christ by highest heav'n adored
Christ the everlasting Lord
Late in time behold Him come
Offspring of the Virgin's womb
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see
Hail th'incarnate Deity
Pleased as man with men to dwell
Jesus our Emmanuel
Hark the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King
Verse 3
Hail the heav'n-born Prince of Peace
Hail the Sun of Righteousness
Light and life to all He brings
Ris'n with healing in His wings
Mild He lays His glory by
Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth
Hark the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King
Jesus Son of God
Verse 1
You came down from Heaven's throne
This earth You formed was not Your home
A love like this the world had never known
A crown of thorns to mock Your name
Forgiveness fell upon Your face
A love like this the world had never known
Chorus
On the altar of our praise
Let there be no higher name
Jesus Son of God
You laid down Your perfect life
You are the sacrifice
Jesus Son of God
You are Jesus Son of God
Verse 2
You took our sin You bore our shame
You rose to life You defeated the grave
And a love like this the world has never known
'Cause You took our sin You bore our shame
You rose to life You defeated the grave
A love like this the world has never known
Bridge
Be lifted higher than all You've overcome
Your name be louder than any other song
There is no power that can come against Your love
The cross was enough
The cross was enough
Go Tell It On the Mountain
Chorus
Go tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and ev'rywhere
Go tell it on the mountain
That Jesus Christ is born
Verse 1
While shepherds kept their watching
O'er silent flocks by night
Behold throughout the heavens
There shone a holy light
Verse 2
The shepherds feared and trembled
When lo above the earth
Rang out the angel chorus
That hailed the Savior's birth
Verse 3
Down in a lowly manger
The humble Christ was born
And God sent us salvation
That blessed Christmas morn
Before the Throne of God Above
Verse 1
Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea
A great High Priest whose name is love
Who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on His hands
My name is written on His heart
I know that while in heav’n He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
No tongue can bid me thence depart
Verse 2
When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free
For God the Just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me
To look on Him and pardon me
Verse 3
Behold Him there, the risen Lamb
My perfect, spotless Righteousness
The great unchangeable I AM
The King of glory and of grace
One with Himself, I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Savior and my God
With Christ my Savior and my God
