Pray for the Church
Praise God for all of the students, parents, volunteers, and staff in our student ministry. Thank God for the work He has accomplished through our Collide conference this weekend. Pray for Him to continue to grow the faith of our students. Ask Him to use them to set an example for the rest of us in how to follow after Christ. Pray for Him to continue to unite us closer together as a faith family across all generations for our good and His glory.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying that the gospel would advance throughout the peoples and places in Birmingham, especially among the least reached in our city. We are praying that God would use our faith family as ambassadors for Christ to boldly proclaim His message of reconciliation in our normal rhythms of everyday life and across ministry bridges like foster care, ESL Ministry, Love Oliver, and among the many ministry partners in our city. We’re also praying this week for 16th Street Baptist Church and Pastor Arthur Price.
Day 1: Pray for our faith family to delight in sharing with others not only the gospel of salvation, but our lives as well, sacrificing our comfort and our calendars for the sake of gospel advancement in our city (1 Thessalonians 2:8).
Day 2: Pray that we would all initiate and nurture relationships with unbelievers, providing a clear demonstration of the Spirit’s power in our own lives (1 Corinthians 2:4).
Day 3: Pray for Birmingham to be filled with healthy, reproducing disciples and disciple-making churches. Pray also that we would all bear much fruit, and that our fruit would remain (John 15:16).
Day 4: Pray for God to call out members of our faith family to dedicate their lives to reaching the least-reached peoples and less-reached places in our city (Matthew 24:14).
Day 5: Pray for our Gospel Conversations Training on Saturday, March 16. Pray that members of our faith family would be well-equipped and encouraged to share the gospel with those who need it, and that many would trust in Christ.
Day 6: Pray that Christ’s love in us would compel us to care so much about others that we have to share the gospel with them (2 Corinthians 5:11,14-15).
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for Northern Yemeni Arabs. There are approximately 11 million Northern Yemeni Arabs inside the country of Yemen. The primary language is Sanaani Arabic and the primary religion is Shia Islam. Most of their people live in the northern mountains and north-eastern deserts of Yemen, some are in the capital city of Sana’a. According to research there are few if any Evangelical Christians in this people group and no one is actively engaging this people with the gospel. Join us as we pray for the Northern Yemeni Arabs of Yemen.
Day 1: Yemen is one of the Arab world’s poorest countries and has been devastated by a civil war that began in 2015. Pray for God’s peace to come to the people and land of Yemen.
Day 2: Pray for the Northern Yemeni Arabs to hunger for righteousness and forgiveness found only in the person and work of Jesus Christ.
Day 3: Yemen is not easily accessible to outsiders, and not open to Christian testimony. Pray for God to open doors into the country and into the Northern Yemeni community. Pray for the gospel to spread in ways that transcend boundaries.
Day 4: Pray for the few known believers outside of Yemen to grow in holiness and love. Pray for access into their homeland where they can share Christ and make His name known to their families and communities.
Day 5: Pray for God to raise up believers to count the cost and go for the sake of the Northern Yemeni Arabs knowing Christ.
Day 6: Pray for God to move among the Northern Yemeni Arabs of Yemen. Pray for their hearts to be softened and their eyes opened to see their need for a Savior.
