Pray for the Church
Praise God for Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross, which made the way for us to be reconciled to Him. Confess and repent of your own sin in your life, and ask and thank God for His forgiveness. Praise Him for Jesus’ resurrection, which demonstrates His power over sin and death. Thank God for the faith He grants us through His grace so we might be saved.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Olivia’s House. Olivia’s House is an alcohol and drug abuse treatment center that provides holistic care for chemically-dependent women and their children. Olivia’s House has granted the unique opportunity to Brook Hills to provide weekly biblical teaching to the residents of their secular recovery program. We’re also praying this week for Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and Pastor Michael Welsley.
Day 1: Pray for Kelly Driver, the director of Olivia’s House, to be a godly, servant leader as she trains and equips her staff. Kelly wants to be an example of faith and love in her leadership role. Pray for her to have the fruits of the Spirit as she facilitates the daily management of the residents and staff of Olivia’s House.
Day 2: Pray for the residents of Olivia’s House to be positive in their recovery journey as they take responsibility for their circumstances, having an attitude of gratitude in their season of discord. May their hearts and minds be receptive to the good news of Jesus Christ and the hope that is offered through salvation.
Day 3: Pray for the weekly Bible study at Olivia’s House, led by Brook Hills members, to resume soon. Ask the Lord to prepare hearts and ignite their desire to hear and read the Word. Pray that all the ladies will want to attend the study. Pray for those who lead the study. Pray for repentance and total surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Day 4: Olivia’s House needs some important and expanded staff roles filled, which include a counselor, nurse, clinical manager, and maintenance manager. Pray that God fills these needed positions soon with people who want to be part of a unified team with godly attitudes, professionalism, and respect for residents.
Day 5: Pray for the grant renewal of Olivia’s House by the State of Alabama. Olivia’s House needs a two-year certification grant for their recovery program. As they approach this audit and review, pray for the staff to do everything correctly, and in order, to effectively receive this grant needed for their residents.
Day 6: Pray that monetary needs and services will be provided for Olivia’s House, creating a better living environment for the residents as they go through recovery. Olivia’s House desperately needs two 15 passenger vans to transport residents in the community. Pray that God will quickly answer this need.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the Kurds. The Kurds are the largest ethnic group in the world without a nation of their own with a population of around 30 million. For centuries they have lived in Central Asia and the Middle East in a ruggedly mountainous region historically known as “Kurdistan.” Nearly 99% of Kurmanji-speaking Kurds are Muslims, though many of them are Muslim in name only. At present, there are several hundred Kurmanji Kurd believers sprinkled throughout the world, but fewer than a dozen evangelical churches are known to exist among them in their historic homeland. Despite repeated efforts to mobilize believers to work among them, there are still dozens of Kurdish cities of over 50,000 people that have virtually no access to the gospel.
Day 1: Ask God to strengthen and encourage the small number of Kurdish believers.
Day 2: The Kurdish people have been suppressed and their culture moderated. Pray for a rehabilitation of their culture and for healthy Kurdish contextual churches to grow in Turkey.
Day 3: The Bible in Kurmanji was completed in recent years. Pray for its widespread use among Kurds.
Day 4: Pray for God to call out more workers to learn Kurmanji and spend their lives for the sake of Kurds to know Christ.
Day 5: Pray for God to open doors into the Kurdish community for workers to access and for the gospel to spread.
