Pray for the Church
Praise God for His grace and mercy He so freely displays toward us. Pray for God to keep us from judgementalism and to grow us in our love for one another. Ask Him to convict us of our own sin and guide us in how we can help one another from falling into temptation. Pray for God to help us depend on HIs righteousness in our lives rather than our own good works.
Pray for the City
In preparation for Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, which is a national day of observance by the pro-life community on the third Sunday of January, we are praying for the lives of the unborn, for parents, and for all people to recognize the intrinsic value of all human life - from the moment of conception to natural death. The National March For Life will be this Saturday, January 19, in Washington D.C. We are also praying for Hunter Street Baptist Church and Pastor Buddy Gray.
DAY 1: Pray for pregnant women in our city and across the nation to comprehend the immeasurable value of the child they are carrying and for God to give them strength, courage, and the relational support to choose life.
DAY 2: Pray for the Church to stand in the gap for the unborn, the most defenseless of God’s children. Pray we as a church would faithfully make disciples among the parents of the unborn.
DAY 3: Pray for elected officials and medical professionals to experience conversion of mind and heart about supporting abortion on demand and for court decisions that permit the destruction of the unborn to be permanently reversed.
DAY 4: Pray for women and men who are mourning the loss of a child to abortion. Pray for them to recognize God’s forgiveness for sin and to apply the truths of the gospel to themselves and experience God’s mercy and peace.
DAY 5: Pray for Sav-A-Life Ministries in Vestavia and Shelby County, Lifeline Children’s Services, Her Choice, Positive Choices, and other ministries in our city that offer resources, education, support, and counseling to couples facing crisis pregnancies. Pray for the gospel to go out through them and for many unbelieving men and women to turn to the Lord.
DAY 6: Pray for Christians in Birmingham to truly grasp what it means to be “pro life,” actively defending the biblical truth that all human life is made in the image of God and holds significant value.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the International Mission Board (IMB), one of Brook Hills’ strategic partners for sending missionaries. The IMB is the primary mission organization for Southern Baptist churches and works in every area of the world to make disciples of all peoples in fulfillment to the Great Commission. The IMB is one of Brook Hills’ main partners in sending short-term, mid-term, long-term and church planting teams overseas. To learn more about the International Mission Board visit imb.org. We are also praying for our short-term teams serving in Southeast Asia and Nashville.
DAY 1: Praise God for the ways He has used the IMB to expand His kingdom. Pray for God to continue to open up multiple pathways through the IMB for more missionaries to be sent.
DAY 2: Pray for wisdom and clarity as the IMB moves forward in their strategy to support the local church as God accomplishes the Great Commission through his people.
DAY 3: Praise God for those He has raised up, called, and confirmed to serve with the IMB. Pray for God to encourage and strengthen field workers as they work to share the gospel and make disciples among all peoples.
DAY 4: Pray for Dr. Paul Chitwood, the new President of the IMB. Pray for God to give him wisdom as he leads the IMB to glorify God and support churches as they make disciples of all nations.
DAY 5: Pray for God to use the IMB to make His name known among unreached people groups in greater ways than ever before.
DAY 6: Thank God for the partnership He has given us at Brook Hills with the IMB. Pray for this partnership to continue to grow and for many people to be called out to go and serve the nations through the IMB.
