Pray for the Church
Praise God for His wisdom, sovereignty, and goodness. Pray we will cultivate an utter dependence on Him and an absolute trust that is not based on our current circumstances, but on His character and eternal Word. Acknowledge that without Christ we can do nothing. Ask the Lord to help our unbelief, increase our faith, and give us strength where we are weak. Rather than giving into temptations to rely on, and trust in, the things this world offers us, pray we will hope and trust in Christ alone.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for the weekly Bible Study at Olivia’s House led by Brook Hills’ members. Olivia’s House is an alcohol and drug abuse treatment center that provides holistic care for chemically dependent women and their children. Olivia’s House has granted the unique opportunity to Brook Hills to provide weekly Biblical teaching to the residents of their secular recovery program. We are also praying for Double Oak Community Church and Pastor Adam Robinson.
DAY 1: Pray for Brook Hills to maintain favor with the director, staff, and all ladies being served at Olivia’s House so that the weekly Biblical teaching may continue. Pray for the Bible message shared each week to penetrate the darkness of those apart from Christ and/or in addiction cycles.
DAY 2: Pray for every resident to choose to attend this optional weekly Bible study and for their hearts to be softened and ready to receive the gospel. Pray they would desire to know God through Jesus and daily call upon the Lord.
DAY 3: Pray for those who respond to the gospel to truly repent and believe, never to return to a wayward life of chemical dependence. Pray for each lady to desire God above all else, and for the temptation of drugs and alcohol to have no hold on them.
DAY 4: Pray for God to give the grace to each resident to complete the program, re-establish a physically and spiritually healthy life outside of Olivia’s House, and find steady, sustaining employment.
DAY 5: Pray for the many women at Olivia’s House with broken families. Pray for God to bring healing and restoration to these families and that He would break the cycle of addiction that destroys relationships.
DAY 6: Pray for the women who are followers of Christ to seek out a Christ-centered church family after they leave the program. Pray for God to provide Christian fellowship immediately so that they are discipled to grow in grace and truth and the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for Brook Hills Member Organization, SPEAR International. SPEAR International exists to encourage, equip, and empower believers worldwide to fulfill their role in the great commission. SPEAR primarily serves in Kenya, Cuba, Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia. Join us this week as we pray for SPEAR, their leadership, and the work God is doing in and through their ministry. For more information, visit spearim.org.
DAY 1: Praise God for SPEAR and all He is accomplishing through their ministry. Praise God for the way the gospel is spreading through the partnership with SPEAR and the local church around the world.
DAY 2: God has led the Board of Directors of SPEAR to renew the search for a new Chief Ministry Officer. Pray for God’s direction and provision as the board seeks out God’s best to lead their ministry.
DAY 3: Praise the Lord for raising up a team to do research and engage ministries in Southeast Asia in December. Pray for God to provide needed finances and prepare the hearts of each team member.
DAY 4: Pray for wisdom, faith, and courage as the leadership of SPEAR seeks to discern and follow the leading of God.
DAY 5: Praise God for opportunities to partner with Southeast Asian believers who are seeking to take the gospel to unreached people groups in their country and neighboring countries. Pray for strength, safety, and financial provision for national partners who are leading these efforts.
DAY 6: Pray for God to continue to strengthen SPEAR’s ministry and influence around the world.
