Pray for the Church
Praise God for the truth of the gospel and the people in your life He used to reveal the gospel to you and call you to repentance and faith. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide understanding of Paul’s presentation to the Areopagus in Acts 17, specifically to recognize how he modeled weaving the gospel into conversation with unbelievers. Pray for those around you who do not know Christ. Ask God to grant you opportunities to share the gospel with them. Pray for God to help you maximize opportunities to saturate common conversations with the gospel.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Restoration Academy, a K-12 Christian school located in Fairfield, AL with a mission to provide an excellent, Christ-centered education to students predominantly from lower-income families. Restoration Academy is committed to meeting individual students at their point of need, providing dynamic instruction and curriculum, competitive sports, and outlets for kids to grow into all that God desires while breaking generational cycles of poverty, violence, addiction, and fatherlessness. We are also praying for Grace & Truth Church and Pastor Steve Longenecker.
DAY 1: Pray for the administration, teachers, and volunteers at Restoration Academy who daily pour into the students under their care. Pray that they would walk in faithful obedience to God’s will and would be encouraged and strengthened by His Spirit.
DAY 2: Pray for opportunities for the gospel to be proclaimed to students who do not yet know Christ. It is the school’s goal that, upon graduation, each student would have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be committed to following Him.
DAY 3: Pray for the weekly tutors who invest in the students as well as the volunteers who serve as teachers’ aides, classroom sponsors, and “Room Moms”. Pray for God to raise up additional tutors, mentors, and fundraising advocates.
DAY 4: Pray for the students who have already put their faith in Christ, that they will be salt and light in their community, school, and family. Pray that they will be able to discern the will of God and would have the courage to be set apart from the rest of the world.
DAY 5: Pray for the families of the students, many of which are facing financial and family difficulties. Pray that, through Christ, their relationship with God and with others would be reconciled and their basic needs would be met.
DAY 6: Pray for the City of Fairfield where Restoration Academy is located. Fairfield is a lower-income, higher-crime city in western Jefferson County. Pray for Fairfield to be revitalized by God’s restoration and peace.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for Brook Hills Mid-Termer David S. serving in the Philippines. David was sent out this summer to serve for one year. David is an engineer. He is using those skills to teach English and engineering classes to students at a local university. God has opened up many doors for the gospel to be shared in his classroom. Join us this week as we pray for David.
DAY 1: One of the biggest blessings for David has been to participate in a new church plant where a group of Christ followers have started gathering. They have been meeting, baptizing new believers, studying God’s word, worshipping in song, and participating in the Lord’s Supper together. Pray for the Spirit to move in boldness as these new believers share with others in their community and for God to add to their number daily.
DAY 2: David has been able to share his testimony with well over 100 students. Praise God for the opportunities to share the gospel. There is a group of students who have expressed interest in gathering to the study the Bible together. Pray for these students and for David as he leads them in hearing more about Christ.
DAY 3: David has found it difficult to talk more in depth with his students about Christ because they are very shy and don’t want to speak English in front of Americans because they are embarrassed. Pray for David to trust that the Lord is the one who saves and His power crosses language and cultural barriers that seem impossible.
DAY 4: David has had some health issues that have served as distractions and frustrations to his time and work. Pray for the Lord to heal David’s body and keep him healthy for the remainder of his time.
DAY 5: Pray for God to continue to provide good community for David as he serves with his team. Pray for team unity and strong partnerships in the gospel.
DAY 6: Praise God for using David and giving him the expertise of engineering. Praise God for an opportunity to equip students in this skill and for open doors to share the gospel with those students. Pray for God to save David’s students.
