Pray for the Church
Pray for God to receive great glory in the way we live our lives. Ask Him to help us all see the joy that can only be found in Him. Pray for God to make us all bold in our witness and to be eager to share His gospel with others.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for the staff at Oliver Elementary School in the Gate City area and the many avenues of ministry through which Brook Hills members, along with others from the community, will be investing in the lives of Oliver students, families, and staff throughout the 2018-19 school year. We are also praying for Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, and Pastor David Eldridge.
DAY 1: Praise God for favor with the new principal, Mrs. Jennifer Lott, at Oliver Elementary School who is allowing us to continue serving and building meaningful relationships with Oliver students and families. Pray for God’s continued grace as we glorify Him by making disciples among Oliver families.
DAY 2: Pray that the Love Oliver initiative would serve its purpose to support and empower Oliver families by coming alongside them in Jesus’ name to love, serve, empower, and point them to Christ.
DAY 3: Pray for the volunteers serving as Breakfast or Lunch Buddies, Classroom Aides, Reading or Math Tutors, and after-school initiatives. Pray they will form bonds of trust with the students and will demonstrate the love of Christ.
DAY 4: Pray for the teachers who are influencing and educating Oliver students on a daily basis. Pray they would be wise, skilled, patient, and compassionate as they model a life of integrity for their students.
DAY 5: Pray for peace in the community of Gate City, specifically in the neighborhood of Oak Ridge Park where Oliver is located, in Harris Homes Public Housing Community, and in Marks Village Public Housing Community where students attending Oliver live. Pray for God’s people to become beacons of light and hope in all of these areas.
DAY 6: Pray for the Brook Hills members serving at Oliver to live a life worthy of the calling they have received and to not grow weary in doing good.
Pray for the World
We believe that we have been saved solely by God’s grace and supremely for God’s glory among the nations. So we pray, we give, we go, and we send so the nations can know that He is the Lord our God. Each year, the Lord provides opportunities for our faith family to serve partners around the world through Short-Term teams. These Short-Term opportunities are designed to strengthen the Long-Term disciple making efforts of field partners in both reached and unreached contexts. Our desire is to see the church established in places where it doesn’t exist and strengthened where it does. Ultimately we know it is God who will accomplish his mission of glorifying Himself among all peoples. We also know that He has given us the privilege to participate in this mission. Join us as we pray for God to use our faith family on Short-Term mission in 2019. Visit brookhills.org/shortterm for a complete list of trips.
DAY 1: There are many field partners who will host Brook Hills Short-Term teams this year. Pray for God to give wisdom to our field partners on how best to utilize Brook Hills to strengthen the work already going on in these strategic areas.
DAY 2: Pray for yourself. Pray for God to show you how He wants to use you, your family, and your small group this year on Short-Term mission.
DAY 3: Pray for God to open the hearts of men, women, and children who will hear the gospel for the first time by one of our Short-Term team members.
DAY 4: Pray for our team leaders who lead each of the trips this year. Pray for God to give them wisdom and discernment as they equip their team and prepare to go.
DAY 5: Pray for the Global Team as they continue to develop partnerships around the world. Pray for God to use Short-Term teams to strengthen these partnerships.
DAY 6: Pray for God to receive great glory from our church on mission this year. Pray for God to call out more people from our faith family to serve Long-Term as a result of their exposure to the world on Short-Term mission.

The Passion
Verse 1
The passion of our Saviour
The mercy of our God
The cross that leaves no question
Of the measure of His love

Our chains are gone
Our debt is paid
The cross has overthrown the grave
For Jesus' blood that sets us free
Means death to death and life for me

While the guilty one walks free
Death would be His portion
And our portion liberty
