Pray for the Church
Praise God for the gift of His Word and for His help in guiding our understanding. Ask God to grow our love for Him and for our neighbors. Pray we will all gain a proper understanding of who our neighbors are and how to love them well. Pray we will be a people known for our selfless and sacrificial service to others around us. Thank God for those whom He has put into our lives to be a help and support to us. Ask God to remove prejudices from us so that we might see people more like He does and grow in our love of and service toward them.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying toward our Every Member On Missions emphasis, that the members of Brook Hills would be actively engaged in gospel mission in our city. As you pray and take time this week to consider how God might be leading you and your family to live life on mission, take a look at some local opportunities at brookhills.org/localmissions. We are also praying for Zion Springs Baptist Church, Avondale, and Pastor Adam Mixon.
DAY 1: Pray for God to empower us to be faithful witnesses of the gospel during our normal rhythms of life, especially in existing relationships with unbelieving co-workers, classmates, neighbors, friends, and family members.
DAY 2: Pray we will be willing to rearrange our lives for the advancement of God’s kingdom and that He would grant us the wisdom to know how best to allocate our time and resources in eternally significant ways.
DAY 3: Pray for Brook Hills ministry teams entering local jails and prisons each week to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness of sins in Jesus Christ. Pray for God’s Spirit to come with great power to transform lives, bringing true revival to our city.
DAY 4: Pray for our love and concern for the poor among us to mirror our Father’s heart. Pray we will be willing to give up our own comfort in order to love our neighbors sacrificially, displaying and declaring the gospel well.
DAY 5: Pray for God to grant us favor with internationals in our city as we welcome them into our homes and lives, and that the gospel would be received and multiplied within their networks.
DAY 6: Pray for the Lord to continue to stir the hearts of Brook Hills members to care for orphans and widows in this community, and that our laboring toward that end would bear much spiritual fruit.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for our Short-Term trips in 2017. Each year, the Lord provides opportunities for our faith family to serve partners around the world through Short-Term teams. These Short-Term opportunities are designed to strengthen the Long-Term disciple-making efforts of field partners in both reached and unreached contexts. Our desire is to see the church established in places where it doesn’t exist and strengthened where it does exist. Ultimately we know it is God who will accomplish His mission of glorifying Himself among all peoples. We also know that He has given us the privilege to participate in this mission for the sake of the gospel going forward. Join us this week as we pray for God to use our faith family on Short-Term mission in 2017. Visit brookhills.org for a complete list of 2017 trips. We are also praying for our Short-Term teams serving in North Africa, South Asia, and South East Asia.
DAY 1: There are many field partners who will host Brook Hills Short-Term teams this year. Pray for God to give wisdom to our field partners on how best to utilize Brook Hills to strengthen the work already going on in these strategic areas.
DAY 2: Pray for yourself. Pray for God to show you how He wants to use you, your family, and your small group this year on Short-Term mission.
DAY 3: Pray for God to open the hearts of men, women, and children who will hear the gospel for the first time by one of our Short-Term team members.
DAY 4: Pray for our team leaders who lead each of the trips this year. Pray for God to give them wisdom and discernment as they equip their team and prepare to go.
DAY 5: Pray for the Global Team as they continue to develop partnerships around the world. Pray for God to use Short-Term teams to strengthen these partnerships.
DAY 6: Pray for God to receive great glory from our church on mission this year. Pray for God to call out more people from our faith family to serve Long-Term as a result of their exposure to the world on Short-Term mission.
Jesus Firm Foundation
Verse 1
How firm a foundation you saints of the Lord
Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word

He'll be our Defender and cause us to stand
Upheld by His merciful almighty hand

How firm our foundation
How sure our salvation
And we will not be shaken

With the pow'r of His promise in their hearts
Of a holy city built by God's own hand
A place where peace and justice reign

For we know in Christ all things are possible
For all who call upon His name
