Pray for the Church
Pray for God to develop humility within each of us and to help us in our consideration of others. Pray we will all seek out opportunities for service to one another as well as to others we encounter and that we will make the most of those opportunities to demonstrate the love of Christ. Ask for the Holy Spirit’s guidance in our lives and for Him to help us to follow wherever He might lead us. Pray for God to grow our commitment to testifying to the gospel no matter what trials we may face in life. Ask God to grant us boldness and to strengthen us to avoid shying away from sharing the whole counsel of God with the world around us. Ask God to continue to raise up and call out from among us men to serve as elders to shepherd our faith family and to help guard us against threats against us.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Brother Bryan Mission, a residential Christian recovery and work-readiness program ministering to the economically, emotionally, and spiritually impoverished men in Birmingham. The goal of BBM is for each client to return to his family, church, and community free from addiction, with stable employment and housing, and with a healthy relationship with God and others. We are also praying for Mountain Brook Independent Church and Pastor Jim Ethridge.
DAY 1: Offer thanks to the Lord for all that He has accomplished on behalf of Brother Bryan Mission this year, especially for the opening of their brand new kitchen and dining hall that now doubles their serving capacity.
DAY 2: Pray for the men who are currently in BBM’s programs. Pray for those who have not yet come into God’s kingdom to nd their only hope in Christ. Pray for those who are disciples to walk in an increasing measure of maturity.
DAY 3: Pray for the guests who come to BBM looking for a meal, shower, and hope. Pray they will surrender to the God of hope as they interact with the staff and clients. Pray also that they would take the next step of commitment to enter the programs or to follow through on referrals made by the staff.
DAY 4: Pray for the staff to live pure and holy lives that honor the Lord. Pray they would be encouraged in heart and strengthened in spirit to carry out their ministry in the love of Christ.
DAY 5: Pray for the volunteers to be well equipped for this great work. Pray for those who serve on the Board of Directors, providing vision for the ministry, that they would be led by the Spirit to give wise, life-giving counsel.
DAY 6: Pray for the Lord to provide the money and resources needed for this ministry and would call out churches, individuals, and organizations to partner financially with BBM to further their impact in the city.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the people of Haiti as they face the realities of recovery in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. Hurricane Matthew made landfall in Haiti on October 4th as a Category 4. It brought widespread destruction and catastrophic loss of life and property during its journey across Haiti, the poorest country in the western hemisphere. The UN estimates that at least 1.4 million Haitians are now in need of urgent assistance as clean water, food, and medicine are in short supply, and an ongoing cholera epidemic threatens to spread and worsen. Join us this week as we pray for the people of Haiti and our partners who are serving there. We are also praying for our Short-Term teams serving in Southeast Asia.
Day 1: It is estimated that more than 1300 people have lost their lives as a result of Hurricane Matthew and that number is expected to rise. Pray for God to comfort those who have lost loved ones. Pray for God to sustain those who remain.
Day 2: Haiti is one of the poorest countries in our world. There is no infrastructure, making food and water scarce. Pray for the hungry and thirsty. Pray for God to provide for their needs. Pray for organizations and authorities to have wisdom on providing aid and reaching those in need.
Day 3: Pray for our partner Samaritan’s Purse as they set up and staff mobile hospitals to care for the wounded and those with cholera. Pray for God to sustain those working and to heal those who have come to the hospital.
Day 4: As a faith family, we at The Church at Brook Hills were able to use portions of our Global Offering to help provide resources to Haiti. Pray for God to use these resources and multiply them to care for the urgent physical needs in Haiti.
Day 5: Pray for the love of Christ to be on the lips and fingertips of those who are working and serving in Haiti. Pray for God to strengthen His church in Haiti and to show Himself mighty and powerful in the wake of this disaster.
Day 6: Pray for the glory of God to spread through Haiti. Pray for the vulnerable, sick, and lost to turn to Christ. Pray for God’s mercy to come upon the Haitian people.

Yesterday and today and tomorrow
Until the day You return

There's a reason why the curse of sin is broken
There's a reason why the darkness runs from light
There's a reason why we stand here now forgiven
Jesus is alive

There’s a reason why we are not overtaken
There’s a reason why we sing on through the night
There’s a reason why our hope remains eternal

There's a reason why our hearts can be courageous
There's a reason why the dead are made alive
There's a reason why we share His resurrection

Bridge
The grave could not ignore it
When all of heaven's roaring
Hell where is your victory
Death where is your sting
The world could not ignore it
When all the saints are roaring
Hell where is your victory
Death where is your sting
Hallelujah He’s alive (oh)
Hallelujah He’s alive (oh)
Hallelujah He’s alive
Man Of Sorrows
Man of sorrows Lamb of God
By His own betrayed
The sin of man and wrath of God
Has been on Jesus laid
Oh that rugged cross my salvation
Where Your love poured out over me
Now my soul cries out hallelujah
Praise and honour unto Thee
Silent as He stood accused
Beaten mocked and scorned
Bowing to the Father's will
He took a crown of thorns
Oh that rugged cross my salvation
Where Your love poured out over me
Now my soul cries out hallelujah
Praise and honour unto Thee
Sent of heaven God's own Son
To purchase and redeem
And reconcile the very ones
Who nailed Him to that tree
Now my debt is paid
It is paid in full
By the precious blood
That my Jesus spilled
Now the curse of sin
Has no hold on me
Whom the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
See the stone is rolled away
Behold the empty tomb
Hallelujah God be praised
He's risen from the grave
There is a Fountain
Verse 1
There is a fountain filled with blood
Drawn from Immanuel's veins
And sinners plunged beneath that flood
Lose all their guilty stains
Lose all their guilty stains
Lose all their guilty stains
And sinners plunged beneath that flood
Lose all their guilty stains
Verse 2
The dying thief rejoiced to see
That fountain in his day
And there have I though vile as he
Washed all my sins away
Washed all my sins away
Washed all my sins away
And there have I though vile as he
Washed all my sins away
Verse 3
Dear dying Lamb Thy precious blood
Shall never lose its pow'r
Till all the ransomed Church of God
Be saved to sin no more
Be saved to sin no more
Be saved to sin no more
Till all the ransomed Church of God
Be saved to sin no more
Verse 4
E'er since by faith I saw the stream
Thy flowing wounds supply
Redeeming love has been my theme
And shall be till I die
And shall be till I die
And shall be till I die
Redeeming love has been my theme
And shall be till I die
Verse 5
When this poor lisping stamm'ring tongue
Lies silent in the grave
Then in a nobler sweeter song
I'll sing Thy pow'r to save
I'll sing Thy pow'r to save
I'll sing Thy pow'r to save
Then in a nobler sweeter song
I'll sing Thy pow'r to save
Saviour King

Let now the weak say I have strength
By the Spirit of pow'r
That raised Christ from the dead
Let now the poor stand and confess
That my portion is Him
And I'm more than blessed

Let now our hearts burn with a flame
A fire consuming all for Your Son's holy Name
And with the heavens we declare
You are our King

We love You Lord
We worship You
You are our God You alone are good
Verse 2
Let now Your church shine as the bride
That You saw in Your heart
As You offered up Your life
And now the lost be welcomed home
By the saved and redeemed
Those adopted as Your own
Chorus 2
You asked Your Son to carry this
The heavy cross
Our weight of sin

I worship You
Hope which was lost now stands renewed

The love of Christ

You are our King
