Praise God for those He calls out from among us to serve as Elders to shepherd, lead, and care for us. Ask Him to grant us wisdom as we consider these four candidates to serve in this vital role. Pray for God to prepare them for the task He has ahead of them.

This week we are praying for Discovery Clubs (discoveryclubs.org), a ministry of the

Birmingham Metro Baptist Association. Discovery Clubs are weekly after-school Bible clubs that

meet after school in dozens of public elementary schools across the greater Birmingham area and surrounding counties. They offer Bible study, memory verse activities and other fun and inspirational activities to help children know about the love of Christ. Discovery Clubs teach the gospel to children while also building biblical foundations for life, developing character, and changing families. We are also praying for Citizen’s Church in Irondale and Pastor Justin Karl.

DAY 1: Pray for the extraordinary growth of Discovery Clubs to be supported in all the ways listed below. Last year six new schools were added, and for the upcoming school year there are already five more in process. This means that more mentors and funding are required to meet the needs presented by this growth.

DAY 2: Pray the schools in which they are meeting are richly blessed by the presence of Discovery Clubs. Pray for the school supervisors that oversee the club meeting at each school. Pray for the love of Christ to shine through them and for God to give them wisdom as they walk through hard places with their students and volunteers.

DAY 3: Pray for the students Discovery Clubs are reaching and will reach this upcoming school year. Pray for their salvation and safety and peace for each student and their families. Pray that as they attend DC, they will know that Jesus loves them deeply and that the volunteers do too!

DAY 4: Pray for current volunteers and mentors and for new volunteers and mentors to come to Discovery Clubs this fall. Pray for their protection and provision while doing the work of Christ.

DAY 5: Pray for Discovery Clubs’ current church partners that are supporting DC. Ask the Lord to bless them for their generosity. Pray for many other churches to join in partnership with Discovery Clubs.

DAY 6: Pray for financial provision for Discovery Clubs as they continue their mission to reach

unchurched elementary age children in public elementary schools. Pray for the Lord to bless their efforts as they begin to forge new funding opportunities under the Birmingham Metro Baptist Association. Pray for blessings on all who have and will donate to help Discovery Clubs share the love of Christ with children across the city.

This week, we are praying for some of our long-term partners, Josip and Kelly D. They live in Croatia and serve with Global Outreach International.

DAY 1: Pray for Josip and Kelly and their family as they are seeking to invest deeply in a local church. Pray they will find the right faith family and that all of them will be blessed and will be a blessing.

DAY 2: Pray for Kelly as she serves local women by leading art workshops. Pray for good connections with other women. Pray she will have opportunities to share the gospel with these women. Pray for God to work in the hearts of these women as she teaches her workshops.

DAY 3: Pray for Josip as he continues to have opportunities to preach across the region. Pray he will be rooted and established in Christ. Pray for his words to be seasoned with grace and truth.

DAY 4: Josip and Kelly are serving with a weekly evening evangelism outreach hosted by Cru ministry, called the Alpha course. People are coming from all over the city, believers from various local churches, and also people who are interested in finding out more about God. They are having many gospel and faith conversations. Pray for them to remain faithful in this task.

DAY 5: Pray for Josip and Kelly’s marriage to remain strong in the Lord’s power. Pray they will love and serve each other well. Pray they will invest in their marriage and that they will be an example to their children and to those around them.

DAY 6: Pray for their five children, Mia, Ben, Lia, Ema, and Abi. Each of them have various things going on, including school and work. Pray each of them will know and love Jesus with all their heart, with all their soul, and with all their mind. Pray for them to cling tightly to Jesus in any and all circumstances.
