Pray for the Church
Praise God for giving us His law, which makes us aware of our sin. Pray for the strength we need to resist temptation and to continue in our battle against our flesh. Thank Him for rescuing us from the body of death through the righteousness of Christ.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Mission Alabama, a Christian nonprofit organization that serves urban and rural socio-economically challenged families. Mission Alabama is committed to creating partnerships that allow individuals and families to access the highways of success as a means of strengthening each community. They assist individuals and families through a variety of programming and initiatives in order to help them achieve a transformed and sustainable life that displays the hope of God’s love and increases their awareness of their own sufficiency within the context of community. They also coordinate the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast. Brook Hills currently partners with Mission Alabama in addressing food security. We are also praying this week for Covenant Community Fellowship in Fairfield and Pastor Frank Woodson.
Day 1: Pray for God to be glorified through the work of Mission Alabama. Pray that He receives all of the credit and honor for the work that is accomplished by the Mission Alabama team.
Day 2: Pray for Mission Alabama to continue to consistently serve the community well through their programs and initiatives. Pray that the Mission Alabama staff and board will continue to follow the Lord’s leading in knowing the best ways to work with the communities they serve.
Day 3: Pray specifically for the Mission Alabama staff and volunteers. Pray that their hearts will remain open to God’s wisdom and will be responsive to His leading. Pray for encouragement for them and their families as they continue to serve in hard places.
Day 4: Pray for Mission Alabama’s leadership team to remain steadfast in their work, even in these times of uncertainty. Pray for guidance from the Lord in knowing the best ways to protect both their clients and volunteers from the COVID-19 virus, while still maintaining presence in the neighborhoods most in need.
Day 5: Pray for financial blessings on Mission Alabama so that they can continue their work with the underserved residents of our state. Pray for God to bless the current donors and supporters because of their abundant generosity.
Day 6: Pray for strengthened relationships between Mission Alabama and their current church partners across the state. Pray that those relationships bear much fruit as they seek to serve the Lord together. Pray for new church partnerships to come to fruition during the upcoming year.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the Turks of Turkey. The Turks make up the majority people (over 70%) and though ethnically diverse, have a fairly homogenous culture. The Turks of Turkey are predominantly Sunni Muslims, believing in one god (Allah), and an eternal heaven and hell. However, they have many ethnic beliefs and superstitions. Among the over 65 million Turks of Turkey, less than 2% are evangelical Christians. Join us this week as we pray for God to do a work among the Turks of Turkey.
Day 1: Praise God that the Church among Turks has grown and at last become a visible reality, even though still a small percentage of the population. Pray for God to renew these believers to share the gospel with their friends and neighbors even in the face of opposition. Pray for God to strengthen the church through His word and those appointed as pastors.
Day 2: Pray for God to open the hearts of Turks to their need for salvation. Pray for Turks to see that salvation comes only through faith in Christ.
Day 3: Turks have a deep sense of national pride and even though Turkey is a secular state, its long association with Islam makes conversion to Christianity very difficult. Pray for radical change in public attitudes toward Christians. Pray for the one true God to be revealed in the Islamic saturated society of Turkey.
Day 4: Pray for our partners who are actively engaging Turks with the gospel. Pray for God to make them bold in their proclamation of the gospel and for opportunities to develop strong healthy relationships with those they are engaging.
Day 5: Many believers among the Turks face significant persecution from their family members. Pray for God to provide for our brothers and sisters who face loneliness, isolation, and poverty.
Day 6: There is a critical need for the global Church to engage in this area of the world. Earnestly pray for God to send more workers to live and work among the Turks.
