Pray for the Church
Praise God for the gift of His Word. Pray for us all to grow in our commitment to reading, studying, and reflecting upon Scripture. Ask God to grant us understanding and to use His Word to guide the steps we take as we follow after Him. Pray for us all to be bold in our proclamation of God’s Word to others around us and around the world.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Christian Service Mission, a ministry committed to loving the underserved and under resourced residents of Birmingham in partnership with local churches. They serve the community through acts of service by providing spiritual, social, and tangible resources for the purpose of seeing healthy change. We’re also praying this week for Oak Mountain Presbyterian and Bob Flayhart.
Day 1: Pray for wisdom for CSM staff and volunteers as they seek to serve the city of Birmingham. Pray for new opportunities to love their neighbors well, to reach the lost, and to grow the Body of Christ.
Day 2: Pray for new partnerships between CSM and local churches and nonprofits. Pray for healthy relationships to grow and that through them Christ will be glorified throughout the city of Birmingham.
Day 3: Pray for CSM, their partners, and the city as they work to build partnership bridges across the racial, denominational, and cultural barriers and divisions that exist in our city. Pray that the city of Birmingham will be transformed through this work and the work of Christ.
Day 4: Pray for biblical stewardship in the ways God has already blessed CSM. Pray for continued blessings in the area of finances, volunteers, pastoral relationships, and physical resources.
Day 5: Pray for CSM’s Housing Ministry, which works to repair and build new homes, improve living conditions, and develop communities within the inner city. Pray that the Housing Ministry team would love and serve families well and encourage individuals towards healthier lives physically, spiritually, and socially.
Day 6: CSM celebrates its 50th anniversary this year! Pray for the strategic efforts of discipling future staff and interns who will carry on this work for the next fifty years.
Pray for the World
Two weeks ago began the month of Ramadan for 1.8 billion Muslims in the world. For this month Muslims all over the world have been abstaining from food, drink, and other pleasures during the day in order to try and remove their sin and draw closer to God. The Church at Brook Hills has strategically sent out workers and church planting teams to many Muslim people groups around the world for gospel engagement. Join us this week as we intercede on behalf of specific Muslim people groups and majority Muslim places around the world.
Day 1: Pray that God would reveal himself to many Malay Muslims this week during Ramadan in dreams and visions. Pray for God to help them see their need for a Savior and that Christ is the only one who can save.
Day 2: Pray for God to soften the hearts of Baloch men and women to the gospel and for Christ to be revealed leading them in the way of truth.
Day 3: Pray for the small pockets of believers who live in majority Muslim populations all over the world to have boldness, courage, and passion as they proclaim the good news of Christ to their Muslim friends and family this month.
Day 4: The largest population of Muslims in the world are in Indonesia. Pray for God to move among the Sunda people in Indonesia coming to Christ and for churches being planted throughout Indonesia.
Day 5: Pray for Somali Muslims living in the United States. Pray for God to provide opportunities for gospel conversations to take place this last week of Ramadan with believers who are engaging them.
Day 6: Pray for Turks and Kurds in Turkey during Ramadan. Pray for the message of salvation by grace and through faith in Christ alone might somehow be proclaimed to Turkish families this week.
