Pray for the Church
title
Praise God for the gift of His grace in so many areas of our lives. Ask God to help us maximize every opportunity for gospel impact He gives us regardless of where we are. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide us in the use of our homes to host and influence those in need of the gospel. Pray we will all see our vocations as means through which we can engage in gospel ministry and mission. Ask God to give each of us partners to join us in gospel ministry that we might support one another and spur one another on. Thank God for graciously empowering us for gospel witness in each and every context in which we find ourselves.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Christian Marriages in Crisis (CMIC), a ministry led by Brook Hills members Paul and Suzi Talley working to bring healing, restoration, and healthy communication to Christian couples in crisis through couple-to-couple counseling, a community of encouragers, and workshops for wives, husbands, and couples. We are also praying for Crosspoint Church, Trussville and Pastor Ryan Whitley.
Day 1: Pray for couples seeking counsel through CMIC to come with repentant hearts and an earnest desire for marital healing. Pray they would walk away with a clear, biblical picture of marriage and that the Holy Spirit would empower them to love each other as Christ loves the Church.
Day 2: CMIC receives calls each week from couples in crisis. Pray for CMIC as they work to minister to each couple according to their unique needs, and for the new couples that have just begun counseling.
Day 3: Pray for biblical wisdom for Paul and Suzi Talley as they minister to couples that have come through crisis and are now learning to honor God and each other in their marriage.
Day 4: Pray as CMIC seeks financial support through their annual golf tournament on October 31st. Pray for a great turnout and for new relationships with other churches and business men and women who will help support this ministry.
Day 5: Pray for Paul and Suzi’s own marriage and family. Pray for them as they minister to their aging parents, children, and grandchild, while keeping their focus on the Lord. Pray also for their physical well being as they face challenges with diabetes (Paul), arthritis, and asthma (Suzi).
Day 6: Pray for Christian marriages in our local church, our city, and our world. Pray for husbands and wives to live according to God’s plan and purpose, and that together they would display the glorious relationship between Christ and His Bride, the Church.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for our members who are in the Global Cities Initiative process. The Global Cities Initiative is a pilot partnerships between local churches and the IMB to mobilize Christians to use their marketable skills to join church planting teams in five major world cities. The goal is to integrate students, professionals, and retirees into the work of making disciples and multiplying churches among unreached people groups in these cities. For more information visit brookhills.org/globalcities.
Day 1: There are over 25 Brook Hills members who are in the process of being sent through the Global Cities Initiative with countless more who are interested. Praise God for preparing the hearts of his people for his purposes.
Day 2: This past weekend we hosted 28 people for a Global Cities Training, a requirement to be sent through this process. Pray for those men and women who attended. Pray for God to continue to use what they learned to confirm their path to be sent in this way.
Day 3: Pray for God to continue to call out many more from Brook Hills and other churches around the world to participate in getting jobs, studying, and retiring in these strategic cities for the glory of God.
Day 4: Pray for each of the five strategic cities and the city leaders who are casting vision and leading this effort. Pray for God to receive glory in this process and open up many opportunities for believers to live, work, and flourish so they can share the gospel and many can know Christ.
Day 5: Pray for God to continue to give wisdom to our leadership here on the Brook Hills Global Team as they lead and guide our faith family in this direction. Pray for grace as they work diligently to mobilize and equip God’s people for this task.
Day 6: The reality is this initiative is hard. There are very few believers in these cities among unreached people groups and this pioneering work has never been done before. Pray for God to remind us He is working all of this for His glory and our good and that in the end His ways are perfect and He will accomplish this mission.
Hallelujah for the Cross
Verse 1
Up to the hill of Calvary
My Savior went courageously
And there He bled and died for me
Hallelujah for the cross
And on that day the world was changed
A final perfect lamb was slain
Let earth and heaven now proclaim
Hallelujah for the cross
Chorus
Hallelujah for the war He fought
Love has won death has lost
Hallelujah for the souls He bought
Hallelujah for the cross
Verse 2
What good I've done could never save
My debt too great for deeds to pay
But God my Savior made a way
Hallelujah for the cross
A slave to sin my life was bound
But all my chains fell to the ground
When Jesus' blood came flowing down
Hallelujah for the cross
Verse 3
And when I breathe my final breath
I'll have no need to fear that rest
This hope will guide me into death
Hallelujah for the cross
Lamb of God
Verse 1
You came from heaven's throne
Acquainted with our sorrow
To trade the debt we owe
Your suff'ring for our freedom
Chorus
The Lamb of God in my place
Your blood poured out my sin erased
It was my death You died I am raised to life
Hallelujah the Lamb of God
Verse 2
My name upon Your heart
My shame upon Your shoulders
The pow'r of sin undone
The cross for my salvation
Bridge
There is no greater love
There is no greater love
The Savior lifted up
There is no greater love
Before the Throne of God Above
Verse 1
Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea
A great High Priest whose name is love
Who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on His hands
My name is written on His heart
I know that while in heav’n He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
No tongue can bid me thence depart
Verse 2
When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free
For God the Just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me
To look on Him and pardon me
Verse 3
Behold Him there, the risen Lamb
My perfect, spotless Righteousness
The great unchangeable I AM
The King of glory and of grace
One with Himself, I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Savior and my God
With Christ my Savior and my God
Christ is Enough
Verse 1
Christ is my reward and all of my devotion
Now there's nothing in this world
That could ever satisfy
Through every trial my soul will sing
No turning back I've been set free
Chorus
Christ is enough for me
Christ is enough for me
Everything I need is in You
Everything I need
Verse 2
Christ my all in all the joy of my salvation
And this hope will never fail
Heaven is our home
Through every storm my soul will sing
Jesus is here to God be the glory
Bridge 1
I have decided to follow Jesus
No turning back no turning back
Bridge 2
The cross before me the world behind me
No turning back no turning back
Now Why This Fear
Verse 1
Now why this fear and unbelief
Has not the Father put to grief
His spotless Son for us
And will the righteous Judge of men
Condemn me for that debt of sin
Now canceled at the cross
Chorus
Jesus all my trust is in Your blood
Jesus You've rescued us
Through Your great love
Verse 2
Complete atonement You have made
And by Your death have fully paid
The debt Your people owed
No wrath remains for us to face
We're sheltered by Your saving grace
And sprinkled with Your blood
Bridge
How sweet the sound of saving grace
How sweet the sound of saving grace
Christ died for me
Verse 3
Be still my soul and know this peace
The merits of your great High Priest
Have bought your liberty
Rely then on His precious blood
Don't fear your banishment from God
Since Jesus sets you free
