A Prayer For Mother’s Day
Brook Hills ContributorDear God,
Thank you for your gracious gift of allowing me to become a mother, however that gift came to me. Thank you for my particular journey of becoming a mother and let me always see it as a blessing and a privilege. Thank you for growing me through the journey of motherhood, and please sustain and strengthen me during the trials of motherhood.
Please be with me today, give me your wisdom and guide my decisions for my children, now and in days to come. Please encourage my heart and mind by your Spirit and through your Word.
Please show me any sin in my heart toward my children and forgive and cleanse me. Bring me into right relationship with you and my children today. Please “restore the years the locusts have eaten” and remove any regret or guilt in my heart about failing my children. Please heal my relationship with my children in ways that only You get the glory.
Please teach me to love my children well, no matter their age, season or struggle. Help me love them in ways that grow their hearts and minds in godliness. Help me love them in ways that understand how you created them each unique and good. Help me listen to their hearts and guide them toward Your plan for their lives. Help me not grow weary in doing good.
God, help me believe what you say about me as a mother and not be tempted to believe the lies of the enemy about me. Help me not doubt your goodness or mistrust your heart toward me. Help me not be fearful but trust You in my life and my children’s lives. Help me believe your Word when it says, For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”
Help me believe that no matter the age or stage of my children, that You will hold my hand and help me mother them well. Help me not let the trials and temptations of this world steal my joy of You and our children. Don’t let my selfish heart rule my choices, but help me submit my heart to your desires for my life. Help me use my time and resources well in order to maximize the opportunities You give me with my children each day.
Dear God for so many women around me who desire to be a mother and are unable, please hold their hands and help them in this season walk close to you for strength and comfort. I pray in your timing and for your purpose, you enable these women to become mothers. Help me be sensitive to their hearts and encourage them as you guide me.
Dear God I pray for young women around me who are not yet mothers, but desire that one day, I pray you bring them older, godly women to teach and guide them in what is good. I pray you give these young women teachable hearts and a solid understanding of your desires for them, which might include being a mother one day. Help me be a godly, older friend to a younger woman today.
God for women around me whose children are not living, we ask for an extra measure of comfort for their hearts today. Lift their heads and let them know your mercy and comfort. We pray your Word that says, Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me; Lord, be my help.” Lord be their help, today. Give me extra sensitivity and availability to these friends today.
God, sustain me to the end. Help me be steadfast and true to You and Your Word in my life.
God, let me believe these words, “therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
Dear God, let us me see my daily tasks as your work and help me give myself fully to it each day.
Amen.
