The Fruit of our Giving
Paul A.
My family and I have been apart of the Church at Brook Hills for over 4 years now and one of the things we love the most about this church is the annual Brook Hills Global Offering. Every Sunday during the month of December, families and individuals joyfully give their resources for the sake of gospel advance around the world through the Global Offering. In a time when many of us are scrambling around to find gifts and presents, the Global Offering serves as a weekly reminder that God has blessed us not only to be a blessing to our families and friends, but also to be a blessing to the nations through the generous giving of our resources. Every person in the congregation is able to contribute and play a vital part in what we seek to accomplish through our Global Disciple-Making Efforts.
As a staff member of the Global Team at Brook Hills, I am privileged to see the fruit of this offering first hand. In fact, the ministry that I lead (Mid-Term Missions) directly benefits from the Global Offering every year. Because people from Brook Hills give so generously every December, we are able to mobilize, train, and send out scores and scores of Mid-Term disciple-makers to be witnesses for Christ to the ends of the earth. These Mid-Termers go out from Birmingham and spend an extended period of time (2 months to 2 years) sharing the gospel, making disciples, and fueling church planting efforts all around the world. A portion of the money that comes in through the Global Offering is set aside every year to specifically help support and resource the families and individuals that go and serve Mid-Term.
Because people give to the Global Offering we are privileged to train and send people out to join God and to actively participate in what He is doing in places like India, China, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia. This visible picture of generous and sacrificial giving directly results in gospel advance around the world. I am so thankful and blessed to serve at a church that strives to be in tune with God’s heart and desire to see the nations reached with the good news of Jesus Christ. This month, I am fervently praying and expecting with anticipation for God to use the 2014 Global Offering to make an even bigger impact for Christ around the world in 2015.
