Focus Studies are short-term classes or support groups that take a closer look at God’s Word as it relates to a specific book of the Bible or topic to help us grow in Jesus. They give us the chance to explore these topics or books together over a specific time, from a few weeks to a whole semester. More studies will be added as we get further into the semester.
GRIEFSHARE
No matter the circumstances, grief recovery is a painful process, and we understand how deeply loss hurts people. Griefshare is a thirteen-week support group that is designed to help individuals deal with their grief in a community. This group is led by those who understand what you are experiencing and want to offer you comfort and encouragement during this difficult season. Each meeting features a 30-minute video followed by a group discussion, so group members can talk about the video and how they are dealing with the loss of their loved one. MARRIAGE
A four-week study on marriage will be offered on Sunday mornings at 10:35 beginning February 2 in Room B303. The study will be based on Paul David Tripp’s book What Did You Expect: Redeeming the Realities of Marriage? You’ll learn how to navigate the challenges of marriage by focusing on grace, communication, and a Christ-centered approach to relationships. The author’s honest and biblical insights help couples confront unrealistic expectations and build stronger, more resilient marriages. Glen and Betty Duncan will lead this study. BEING A DISCIPLE
At Brook Hills, we often talk about making disciples, but what does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus? This Focus Study will explore this question and delve into stages of spiritual growth, relational patterns that affect how we view God, and ways we can grow with God and others. During each session, participants will engage in practices together in order to learn and deepen their relationship with the Lord. This five-week study will be taught by Ashley Chesnut, Brook Hills’ Associate Young Adult Minister, and will meet on Sundays at 10:35am beginning February 2 in room B308. Please register below.

Do you ever get in a rut in your prayer life? Do you get bogged down with a prayer list that keeps growing—and wonder if this is what God had in mind when he told us to pray? THE PRACTICAL GREAT COMMISSION: MAKING DISCIPLES IN YOUR HOME, WORK, AND SCHOOL
We recite the Great Commission every week at the end of our Sunday Worship Gatherings, yet many of us may not know how to begin living it out. This focus study will provide practical tools that we need to bring the Great Commission to life in our homes, our work, and our habits. Chip Bugnar and Brooks Werk will lead this three-session study, and will guide participants as they navigate what faithful disciple-making looks like in their everyday lives. Beginning Sunday, April 6, at 9a in B303. Please register below.
STORIES AND STRATEGIES
Join us for three nights of stories from our three main BH City Ministries Initiatives. Hear from volunteers about what it’s like to serve in our local International Outreach ministries, in our Love Oliver Initiative, and in our Foster Care Ministry as a volunteer or parent. While you listen to these stories, you’ll also learn more about our goals and strategies through these initiatives. Beginning Wednesday, April 23 at 6:30p. We'll meet in room C124.
