Moms of Children with Special Needs Small Group
Wednesdays, 6:30pm to 8pm
Room C-115
Fall semester resumes Wednesday, August 14, 2024
This small group has been created to serve women who are caregivers for someone with special needs or disabilities. It is our desire to provide a safe space for support both spiritually and practically. Through Bible study, topical discussions, and candid conversations, we will navigate life's challenges together.
This group is led by Joan Elder and Rene Bradberry, two seasoned moms of adult children with Special Needs. Guests are always welcome!
Childcare: We have childcare and age-specific programming including children with Special Needs starting at infancy-12th grade. If your child with Special Needs will be on campus during this group and will need a Buddy, please contact .
*If you have the ability to leave your child at home with your spouse or another caregiver, that would be helpful. We have limited Buddies available on Wednesday evenings and are prioritizing single mothers and/or mothers with traveling spouses whose children need a Buddy. Knowing this, if you have a childcare need for these evenings, please let me know, and we will do all we can to help your family.
MEET THE LEADERS
My name is Rene Bradberry. In 2021, I retired from M-POWER Ministries Education Center where I was Program manager for almost 10 years helping GED students. This position allowed me to utilize my degree as a vocational educator after being a stay-at-home mom. I am excited about this opportunity to be part of a Wednesday night group that brings together moms of children with special needs.
My name is Joan Elder. I am a retired Special Education teacher having taught 36 years. I have been heavily involved in the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), serving as Past President of the NAMI Alabama Board of Directors and Education Coordinator.
