Pray for the Church
Praise God for His creation. Ask Him to guide us in our study of Genesis to see what a glorious and magnificent God He is. Pray we will all see how the beginning of all things relates to God's story for us now.
Pray for the City
In support of the Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, a national day of observance by the pro-life community on the third Sunday of January, we are praying for the lives of the unborn, for parents, and for all people to recognize the intrinsic value of all human life from the moment of conception to natural death. The annual Metro Birmingham Life Forum’s Prayer Vigil was held Saturday, January 15, at the Planned Parenthood building. The National March For Life will be Friday, January 21, in Washington D.C. This week we are also praying for Briarwood Presbyterian Church and Pastor Harry Reeder.
Day 1: Pray for pregnant women in our city and across the nation to comprehend the immeasurable value of the children they are carrying. Pray for God to give them strength, courage, and the relational support to choose life.
Day 2: Pray for the Church to stand in the gap for the unborn, the most defenseless of God’s children. Pray that we, as a faith family, would faithfully make disciples among the parents of the unborn.
Day 3: Pray for elected officials and medical professionals to experience conversion of mind and heart about supporting abortion on demand, and for court decisions that permit the destruction of the unborn to be permanently reversed.
Day 4: Pray for women and men who are mourning the loss of a child to abortion. Pray for them to recognize God's forgiveness for sin and to apply the truths of the gospel to themselves and experience God's mercy and peace.
Day 5: Pray for Sav-A-Life Ministries in Vestavia and Shelby County, Lifeline Children’s Services, Her Choice, Positive Choices, Life on Wheels, and other ministries in our city that offer resources, education, support, and counseling to couples facing crisis pregnancies. Pray for the gospel to go out through them, and for many unbelieving men and women to turn to Jesus.
Day 6: Pray for Christians in Birmingham to truly grasp what it means to be “pro-life”—actively defending the biblical truth that all human life is made in the image of God and holds significant value from the womb to the tomb.
Pray for the World
This week we want to pray for the Malay of Malaysia. The Malay are the majority people group of Malaysia. In Malaysia, people are classified as Malay by the federal constitution if they speak the national language (Bahasa Malay), practice Malay customs, and are followers of Islam. There are very few Malay believers. It is illegal to proselytize a Malay, and those that do become Christians are subject to harsh persecution. Join us this week as we pray that the glory of God would be made known throughout Malaysia.
Day 1: Pray for the more than 7 million Malay in peninsular Malaysia to have opportunities to hear the gospel. Pray for God to open wide the doors for the gospel to be heard in their language, and for many to believe.
Day 2: Pray for God to reveal Himself to Malay men and women in ways that make them want to seek out the one true God. Pray for Malay men and women to come in contact with believers who will be faithful to share the gospel.
Day 3: To be Malay is to be Muslim. It is their culture and heritage. Pray for the Malay to be delivered from the culture that holds them so tightly to tradition.
Day 4: Pray for the Malay to come to understand that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and that no one can come to the Father except through Christ.
Day 5: Pray for members of our faith family who live and work in Malaysia to have opportunities to engage the lost with the gospel. Pray for God to give them success as they strive to integrate into and do good for their communities.
Day 6: Pray for the Malay to realize they are unable to turn from sin on their own. Pray for God to save many Malay.
