Pray for the Church
Praise God for His compassion. Ask HIm to continue to grow our love for and commitment to His Word. Pray for Him to graciously lead us toward greater faithfulness and obedience while helping us resist the temptation toward self-righteousness. Pray we wil all live our lives with Christ's ultimate victory and our eternal joy in mind.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Hearts in Hands, Inc., a local Christian nonprofit ministry that provides home repair services and wheelchair ramp construction for poor and elderly people in the greater Birmingham area. Hearts in Hands strives to engage the poor with the gospel while meeting their physical needs. We’re also praying for 45th Street Baptist Church and Andra Sparks.
Day 1: Pray for Hearts in Hands to remain steadfast in their mission to exalt the name of Jesus Christ in Birmingham as they serve low-income homeowners. Pray for God to soften the hearts of the homeowners to the gospel and draw them to Himself.
Day 2: Pray for God to provide wisdom to the Hearts in Hands staff and leadership team as they respond to those requesting assistance.
Day 3: Pray for people in need to hear about this ministry so they will encounter the love of God through the ministry of Hearts in Hands. Pray for financial provisions to be able to care for each person’s home repair needs.
Day 4: Pray for unity among volunteers as the Body of Christ from different churches serve together. Pray for them to form relationships with one another and with those they serve.
Day 5: Pray for God to provide volunteers with serving hearts, including those with construction skills who can help with rotten and unsafe floors, so that the most critical needs can be met. Pray for the safety of each volunteer as they are serving with Hearts in Hands.
Day 6: Pray for connections with other nonprofits and churches so that Hearts and Hands can refer clients to receive help with any other needs they may have.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the people of Türkiye as two massive earthquakes have recently brought large-scale devastation to ten cities in the Southeastern part of the country and for the ongoing rescue efforts to find survivors.
Day 1: Pray the truths of Psalm 46 for the church and people suffering in Türkiye: that God would be a very present help in times of trouble, that trembling hearts would be stilled in knowing He is God, and He can make the shaking cease.
Day 2: Pray for the relief efforts and for the necessary supplies needed. It’s winter time and people have crowded around fires to stay warm as many escaped in the middle of the night without the necessary means to stay warm.
Day 3: Pray for wisdom for the authorities. The sheer scale of the relief effort is daunting and firsthand reports share how paralyzing it can be. Pray for God to direct efforts and give discernment when needed so that more lives will be preserved.
Day 4: Pray for a church family that lost their pastor and his wife in this tragedy. Their seven-year-old son has survived. Please pray for the solidity of their faith in God and their upcoming needs. Pray for them to be declaring hope in these dark days.
Day 5: Pray for the churches in this area and for their ability to be the light of Christ in these dark days. Pray for the softening of hearts and unhindered access to the good news in this time.
Day 6: Pray for upcoming needs: running water is scarce in some of these areas, bitter cold has settled in for months, sicknesses could spread quickly among displaced communities, houses have been destroyed, people’s livelihoods have been altered, and many family members have been lost. The needs are endless. Our God’s hands are able. Let’s entrust them to Him.
