Pray for the Church
Praise God the Father for sending His Son, Jesus Christ. Pray for us all to be reminded this Holy Week of who Jesus is and why He came. Pray for opportunities to graciously invite others to join us as we celebrate Easter the resurrection next weekend.
Pray for the City
In honor of April being Second Chances Month, this week we are praying for Prison Fellowship, a Christian ministry begun by Chuck Colson after his conversion in prison, that aims to see all who are affected by crime and incarceration reconciled to God, their families, and their communities. They provide biblical instruction and support in prisons throughout the U.S., care for families affected by crime, and advocate for equal justice for all and for second chances for the formerly incarcerated. We are also praying for Brook Hills member, Jeremy Miller, who leads out in these efforts throughout our state as Alabama’s Prison Fellowship Field Director. We are also praying for Grace and Truth Church and for Pastor Henry Tolbert.
Day 1: Pray for those who have been recently released from prison and are seeking a second chance in society. Every person has dignity and potential. Pray for the unlocking of second chances for all those with a criminal record who have paid their debt to society.
Day 2: Pray for the Prison Fellowship Academies inside of St. Clair Correctional, Bibb Correctional, Donaldson Correctional, Elmore Correctional, Bullock Correctional, Julia Tutwiler Prison for Women and Birmingham Work Release. Pray for transformed lives and renewed minds for the 220 men and 45 women in these Academies that meet 2-3 times a week studying God’s Word.
Day 3: Pray for Prison Fellowships Easter Hope Events coming up this month. Pray for the incarcerated men who will hopefully be able to attend these evangelistic services. Pray that their hearts would be open to the gospel.
Day 4: Pray for Prison Fellowships Angel Tree Families across the State of Alabama. Pray that their lives would be impacted by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray that these children of incarcerated parents would not follow in the path of their parents but seek to live crime-free God honoring lives.
Day 5: Pray for Prison Fellowship’s Alabama Field Director, Jeremy Miller as he provides leadership to all these programs and events in the State. Pray for wisdom, strength and discernment as he interacts with the incarcerated, volunteers and state officials daily.
Day 6: Pray for the physical, mental, and spiritual health and the well-being of those who are incarcerated in our state’s prison system. Pray for safety during these times of stress from lockdown and reduced security staff.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for our partners, Samaritan’s Purse. Samaritan’s purse seeks to provide spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world, namely those who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine—all with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Day 1: Pray for the many nurses and Samaritan’s Purse volunteers that have gone to respond to the crisis in Turkey. Pray that the Lord would give them strength and endurance as they witness so much tragedy.
Day 2: Pray for the many conversations that nurses and volunteers will get to have with those directly impacted and affected by the earthquakes. Pray that these conversations would be able to point patients and translators to our great counselor.
Day 3: Pray for the national organization there in Turkey that has opened the door for Samaritan’s Purse to come in and help. Pray that they would continue to have favor in the eyes of the government.
Day 4: Pray that those directly impacted by the earthquake would see a difference in the nurses and doctors that are volunteering with Samaritan’s Purse. Pray that they would be able to clearly reflect Christ in their care.
Day 5: Pray that the many tents and shelters that Samaritan’s Purse is providing would allow family units to feel a little safer at night, and that the church would be strengthened despite it all.
Day 6: Praise the Lord for the many ways that Samaritan’s Purse is platformed to be able to respond to urgent and crisis needs. Ask that His church would be strengthened through their work.
