Pray for the Church
Praise God for the members of our faith family currently engaged in planting churches among unreached people groups. Pray for our Engage Teams right here in Birmingham and for God to grant favor to them and lead them to people He has prepared to hear and respond to the gospel. Pray for unity among our team serving a Muslim people in the Detroit area, especially as we send out new team members to join them. Pray for our team serving an Indian Hindu people in New York to continue steadfastly in the work to which the Lord has called them. Pray for perseverance for all of our Church Planting teams serving internationally in East Asia, Central Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East, and ask God to continue to fill out their teams with the members needed for the work they have to do. Pray for God’s direction in considering future locations of church planting work, and ask Him to reveal to each of us how we might be involved.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Lifeline Children’s Services, a holistic Christian orphan care ministry in Birmingham, Alabama. Lifeline serves families by supporting them in adoption, foster care, education, and international orphan care. Locally, Brook Hills partners with Lifeline to train our foster care parents and WRAP Ministry volunteers and to coach adoptive parents. We are also praying for Household of Faith Church and Pastor Larry Cockrell.
DAY 1: Pray for vulnerable children who find themselves without a voice; that they would hear and receive the hope of the gospel and that they would trust in the Lord to provide for their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
DAY 2: Pray for Lifeline’s Birthparent Counselors who are working with men and women facing an unplanned pregnancy. Pray for counselors to share the gospel with boldness and for birthparents to choose life for their child through parenting or by making an adoption plan.
DAY 3: Pray for the International Leadership: Pray for the Lord to be evident in their lives as they carry the gospel to the nations through advocating for vulnerable children and discipling families in the adoption process.
DAY 4: Pray for families who have foster children in their home, that they would know how to respond to the losses and needs of these children in a loving, nurturing, and Christ-honoring way.
DAY 5: Pray for the counselors who are working with hurting families. Pray for the Lord to grant wisdom as they provide resources and guidance to families working to bond with their adoptive children.
DAY 6: Pray for the international church partners who are leading their communities to care for orphans and vulnerable children. Pray for the power of the gospel to go forth in bringing greater life-change in these communities to break the cycle of poverty.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for Brook Hills Mid-Termer, Lindsey W. serving in southest Asia. Lindsey is living and working with field partners in a restoration home for girls who have left prostitution and who are trying to start a new life. Their goal is to share the gospel with the girls and train them in useful skills to support themselves financially and for a sustainable future. Join us this week as we pray for Lindsey and the partners with whom she is serving. We are also praying for our Short- Term teams serving in Nepal and in Guatemala.
DAY 1: Praise God for the opportunities that Lindsey has had to share the gospel and make friends with girls she is meeting. Pray for God to continue to provide these opportunities and to maximize these relationships for His glory.
DAY 2: Pray for team unity between Lindsey, her teammate, and the broader team with whom they serve. Pray for humble hearts that desire to serve one another.
DAY 3: The area of town Lindsey works in is extremely poor, so women believe prostitution is their only source of income. Pray for Christ to show himself to these women and transform their lives. Pray for the children of these women to see Christ as Lindsey and her team serve them.
DAY 4: Fara is a young lady at the restoration home who is about to graduate out of the program. She is a talented young lady who has believed in Christ. Pray for God to give Fara discernment and direction as she transitions out of the restoration home.
DAY 5: The work Lindsey is participating in can be challenging. Pray for God to sustain Lindsey and to give her the strength needed to face every challenge.
DAY 6: Pray for God to use Lindsey in this dark place. Pray that she shines with the light of Christ to those who have never heard his name (Psalm 139:12). Pray for many women to hear of the salvation that comes through Christ. Pray for many to believe.
God Is Able
Verse 1
God is able
He will never fail
He is Almighty God
Greater than all we seek
Greater than all we ask
He has done great things
Chorus
Lifted up He defeated the grave
Raised to life our God is able
In His Name we overcome
For the Lord our God is able
Verse 2
God is with us
God is on our side
He will make a way
Far above all we know
Far above all we hope
He has done great things
Bridge
God is with us
He will go before
He will never leave us
He will never leave us
God is for us
He has open arms
He will never fail us
He will never fail us
Before the Throne of God Above
Verse 1
Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea
A great High Priest whose name is love
Who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on His hands
My name is written on His heart
I know that while in heav’n He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
No tongue can bid me thence depart
Verse 2
When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free
For God the Just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me
To look on Him and pardon me
Verse 3
Behold Him there, the risen Lamb
My perfect, spotless Righteousness
The great unchangeable I AM
The King of glory and of grace
One with Himself, I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Savior and my God
With Christ my Savior and my God
O Praise the Name
Verse 1
I cast my mind to Calvary
Where Jesus bled and died for me
I see His wounds His hands His feet
My Savior on that cursed tree
Verse 2
His body bound and drenched in tears
They laid Him down in Joseph's tomb
The entrance sealed by heavy stone
Messiah still and all alone
Chorus
O praise the Name of the Lord our God
O praise His Name forevermore
For endless days we will sing Your praise
O Lord O Lord our God
Verse 3
Then on the third at break of dawn
The Son of heaven rose again
O trampled death where is your sting
The angels roar for Christ the King
Verse 4
He shall return in robes of white
The blazing sun shall pierce the night
And I will rise among the saints
My gaze transfixed on Jesus' face
Beneath the Waters (I Will Rise)
Verse 1
This is my revelation
Christ Jesus crucified
Salvation through repentance
At the cross on which He died
Verse 2
Now here my absolution
Forgiveness for my sin
And I sink beneath the waters
That Christ was buried in
Chorus 1
I will rise
I will rise
As Christ was raised to life
Now in Him
Now in Him I live
Verse 3
I stand a new creation
Baptised in blood and fire
No fear of condemnation
By faith I'm justified
Bridge
I rise as You are risen
Declare Your rule and reign
My life confess Your Lordship
And glorify Your Name
Your word it stands eternal
Your kingdom knows no end
Your praise goes on forever
And on and on again
No pow'r can stand against You
No curse assault Your throne
No one can steal Your glory
For it is Yours alone
I stand to sing Your praises
I stand to testify
For I was dead in my sin
Chorus 2
But now I rise
I will rise
As Christ was raised to life
Now in Him
Now in Him I live
O Church Arise
Verse 1
O church arise and put your armour on
Hear the call of Christ our Captain
For now the weak can say that they are strong
In the strength that God has given
With shield of faith and belt of truth
We'll stand against the devil's lies
An army bold whose battle cry is Love
Reaching out to those in darkness
Verse 2
Our call to war to love the captive soul
But to rage against the captor
And with the sword that makes the wounded whole
We will fight with faith and valour
When faced with trials on every side
We know the outcome is secure
And Christ will have the prize for which He died
An inheritance of nations
Verse 3
Come see the cross where love and mercy meet
As the Son of God is stricken
Then see His foes lie crushed beneath His feet
For the Conqueror has risen
And as the stone is rolled away
And Christ emerges from the grave
This victory march continues till the day
Every eye and heart shall see Him
Verse 4
So Spirit come put strength in every stride
Give grace for every hurdle
That we may run with faith to win the prize
Of a servant good and faithful
As saints of old still line the way
Retelling triumphs of His grace
We hear their calls and hunger for the day
When with Christ we stand in glory
