Pray for the Church
Praise God for the joy of gathering together with others for worship. Ask Him to grow our faith as well as our knowledge through our study of His Word. Pray for unity among our faith family as we link arms to follow Christ together. Ask Him to send us and use us to proclaim His gospel to all who need to hear.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for the ministry of WorkFaith Birmingham (WFB), a Christ-centered nonprofit workforce preparation and life development ministry focused on helping adults in transition facing employment barriers. WFB was started by Pastor Keith Stanley, our City Ministries Pastor, to provide an avenue to bring the body of Christ alongside adults needing skill development to get a job and keep a job, and to develop Christian ethics to maintain work. WFB celebrates seven years of workshops and 1000 graduates this month. This week we are also praying for Bethel Baptist Church of Collegeville and Pastor Thomas Wilder.
Day 1: Pray for the 1000+ graduates who have clearly heard the gospel over the past three years to trust in Christ for their salvation, and connect to a local church where they can grow in Christ and experience biblical support.
Day 2: Pray that God would raise up an army of volunteers to join in helping adults move forward in life through work and faith by serving as mock interviewers, board members, web and social media supporters, mentors, and more.
Day 3: Pray for the over 80% of graduates who have gained employment to be able to move forward into careers that provide sustainable wages for them and their families.
Day 4: Pray for those graduates that are still seeking unemployment to be diligent in their search and not be discouraged. Pray that God will provide employers willing to hire graduates from WFB.
Day 5: Pray for additional resources and partnerships to develop and grow in order to serve more formerly incarcerated individuals that continue to relocate to the Birmingham area.
Day 6: Pray for WFB ministry partners: The Lovelady Center, The WellHouse, The Salvation Army Center of Hope, and Community Care Development Network. Pray for God to continue to provide all the resources needed to serve our clients.
Pray for the World
This week we continue to pray for the Desert City Initiative, specifically for the populations of unreached people groups that live within the city. People from over 190 countries call the Desert City home, and many of them come from places where access to the gospel is limited. With an average stay of three years working and living in the city, the believers in churches have a window of opportunity to share the gospel and pray that God would bring many to Himself in that season. Join us this week as we pray for some of the least reached peoples in the Desert City.
Day 1: There are over one million Bengali speaking people living and working in the Desert City. Pray for God to prepare the hearts of Bengali men and women to hear and respond to the gospel.
Day 2: Pray for the large community of Somali people who have found a home in the Desert City to meet Christ followers and hear the hope of the gospel.
Day 3: Pray for the growing number of Han Chinese who are moving into the Desert City for work. Pray for the gospel to be proclaimed and churches planted for Mandarin speakers across the city.
Day 4: Pray for Saudi men and women that live in the city to come to faith and become Kingdom ambassadors for their friends and family back in Saudi Arabia.
Day 5: Pray for the Emirati people who call the Desert City home to see their need for a Savior. Pray for believers in the city to be bold, and to show and share the gospel in how they live with Emirati around them.
Day 6: Pray for God to move among the more than one million Egyptian Arabs who live in the Desert City. Pray for God to strengthen the church in the Desert City and to raise up leaders who will plant churches among this people group.
