Pray for the Church
Praise God for the gift of His Word and particularly the book of Proverbs as we begin our new sermon series. Ask God to grant us His wisdom we need for life, ministry, and mission. Pray for Him to grow our understanding of Proverbs. Ask Him to help us apply all we are learning to our lives in very practical ways.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Birmingham Urban Young Life. Urban Young Life is a Christian ministry with a mission to introduce adolescents to Jesus and help them grow in their faith. Urban Young Life serves the students of Restoration Academy, Putnam Middle School, Banks Academy, and Woodlawn High School. We are also praying for Redeemer Community Church and Pastor Joel Brooks.
DAY 1: Pray for the Putnam and Restoration Academy middle school students who attended Southwind Camp in June. Pray for God to draw each one into a deeper walk with Him.
DAY 2: Pray for spiritual growth for the students from Woodlawn High School, Restoration Academy, and Banks Academy who will participate in a trip to Windy Gap, July 7-13.
DAY 3: Pray for Young Life leaders as they follow up with students after both of these trips and seek to disciple new believers while continuing to pursue those who are still seeking answers.
DAY 4: Pray for a strong community of adults who will surround and join the Area Director, Sedrick Moore, as he pursues the mission of reaching teenagers in our city’s urban areas.
DAY 5: Pray for the financial provision to hire staff to come alongside Sedrick in recruiting and training leaders to disciple middle and high school students.
DAY 6: Pray for the students in our city to come to know the Lord and step into authentic discipleship. Pray they would develop into a generation of disciples who are truly sold-out for Christ.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for a team of Brook Hills Mid-Termers serving in North Africa. Maggie, Abby, Catie, Elizabeth, and Amanda were sent out for the summer to serve with a long-term team engaging an unreached people group in North Africa. Their main role is to engage locals in gospel conversations and build relationships through sports. The team is also studying Arabic with a local tutor. Join us as we pray for these mid-termers and for the Lord to use them to make Himself known to those they are engaging.
DAY 1: This team of mid-term women are in their fourth week on the field and are learning what it means to hold their expectations loosely and trust the Lord fully with the plans He has for their time in North Africa. Pray for the women to pursue faithfulness at all times and to be quick, even in unexpected moments, to share the gospel and build others up for the sake of the good news of Christ spreading among those who have never heard.
DAY 2: Praise God for the friendships that the women have made. Pray for Anise, who they met randomly on the road one day. She has heard the gospel a few times now. Pray for God to open her eyes to her sin and her need for a Savior.
DAY 3: Pray for Billam, who they met at a restaurant and were able to connect to the men on their team. He is a Syrian refugee living in their city. Pray for Billam to come to know the truth of Christ and to believe.
DAY 4: Pray specifically for Maggie, Abby, Catie, Elizabeth, and Amanda to continue to grow in unity as they serve one another and do ministry together. Pray they would encourage one another as they joyfully submit themselves to the work God has given them and for many to see Christ in and through their lives.
DAY 5: Pray for God to put people of peace in the path of these mid-term women. Pray they would be bold and faithful when opportunities come to share.
DAY 6: Pray for these mid-term women as they study Arabic. Pray for God to give them energy and make them diligent in their studies. Pray for opportunities to share with their language tutor in the time they have with her.
