Pray for the Church
Praise God for the sustaining strength He grants us for endurance. Pray for perseverance through every trial we encounter. Ask Him to guard us against temptation and to resist every temptation we face.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for reconciliation and unity in the Body of Christ in Birmingham for the sake of effectively proclaiming and portraying the power of the gospel together. We are particularly praying that each of us will be instruments in the Redeemer’s hands pursuing unity in His Body as He reconciles all things in Christ. (Colossians 1:19-20; Ephesians 2: 14-16) We are also praying for Rock City Church and Pastor Mike McClure.
DAY 1: Pray for all of our members to reflect the love of Christ across all ethnic, racial, socio-economic, and man-made barriers in our city. Pray especially for those intentionally serving alongside our city partners such as Serving You Ministries, Oak Tree Ministries, Oliver Elementary School, and Iglesia La Conexion to be aware of the painful experiences of others and pursue peace in our city through gospel-centered relationships.
DAY 2: Pray for all believers across Birmingham to pursue unity with believers of other ethnicities and cultures showing love, grace, forgiveness, compassion, and humility in a way that displays Christ’s character to the entire city.
DAY 3: Ask God to make us aware of any of our own sin, prejudices, ignorance, ethno-centric attitudes, or apathy that is keeping us from displaying the power of the gospel through the unity of His Body.
DAY 4: Pray for all evangelical church leaders in Birmingham to humbly reflect the unity of the Spirit by initiating partnerships and friendships with one another to display, demonstrate, and declare the gospel across our city.
DAY 5: Pray for the Spirit to lead Christians of all ethnicities to walk in forgiveness toward one another, extending grace to those who have caused division or have acted unjustly intentionally or unintentionally.
DAY 6: Pray for evangelical church leaders across the city to especially be willing to mobilize their people to make disciples in low-income urban areas and among ethnicities that are isolated from the Church.
Pray for the World
This week, we are praying for one of our Long Term Partners, Beth W. Beth serves with her team in North Africa.
DAY 1: Pray for her church to be a light in their city, for Jesus’ name to be magnified, and for them to have unity as they proclaim the gospel with their mouths and lives.
DAY 2: Please pray for their team to walk in humility, serve one another, love one another with brotherly affection, honor one another in their communication, and care for one another.
DAY 3: Pray for Beth’s local friends from school, from her neighborhood, and from around her community. Pray for God to have mercy on them, to deliver them from the domain of darkness and transfer them into the Kingdom of His beloved Son (Col 1:13). Pray for Beth to have an opportunity to read the Word with a local friend.
DAY 4: Beth and some of her teammates will begin their third semester of language learning this month. Pray for diligence, endurance, faithfulness, and fruitfulness in this endeavor—for the Lord to be their help. Beth is planning on starting spiritual language tutoring from a local sister. Please pray for this time to be mutually encouraging and fruitful for all.
DAY 5: Pray for Beth and her team as they continue to seek the Lord’s direction on different work/platform opportunities in the next couple months. Pray for connections with locals, for wisdom in starting businesses, and for open doors to build relationships and bless the community they live in for the sake of Christ.
DAY 6: Pray for Beth to rest in the steadfast love of Christ, to be satisfied in Him, and to preach the gospel to herself daily. Pray for her to stand firm in the faith and put on the full armor of God. Pray for her to have joy in the Lord, regardless of any circumstance and for her to cherish the Word of God. Pray for her to have wisdom in all her relationships.
