Pray for the Church
Pray for parents as they faithfully carry out the mission of being the primary disciple-makers in the lives of their children. Pray for strength and grace as they carry out this incredibly important task God has given them. Pray for our faith family, as we partner with these parents in worshiping together, in caring for their children, and in sharing the gospel with their children.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Olivia’s House (www.adatc.org). Olivia’s House is an alcohol and drug abuse treatment center in East Lake that provides holistic care for chemically dependent women and their children. Olivia’s House allows Brook Hills to provide weekly Biblical teaching to the residents of their secular recovery program along with other periodic events. Beth Middleton coordinates that ministry. We are also praying for Christ Church and Pastor Matt O’Reilly.
DAY 1: Pray for Kelly Driver, the Director of Olivia’s House, to be a godly servant leader as she trains and equips her staff. Kelly wants to be an example of faith and love in her leadership role. Pray for her to have the fruits of the Spirit as she facilitates the daily management of the residents and staff of Olivia’s House.
DAY 2: Pray for the residents of Olivia’s House to be positive in their recovery journey as they take responsibility for their circumstances; having an attitude of gratitude in their season of discord. May their hearts and minds be receptive to the good news of Jesus Christ and the hope that is offered through salvation.
DAY 3: Pray for the weekly Bible Study at Olivia’s House, led by Brook Hills members. Ask the Lord to prepare hearts and ignite their desire to hear and read the Word. Pray all the ladies will want to attend the study. Pray for those who lead the study. Pray for repentance and total surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
DAY 4: Pray for new volunteers at Olivia’s House. Ask the Lord to bring people to help with both the Bible study and with a new “Health and Wellness” program that will include Pilates, healthy eating, and spiritual growth. Pray the volunteers will honor God in both word and deed and encourage the ladies in Olivia’s House to do the same.
DAY 5: Pray for the staff of Olivia’s House. Pray for them to be unified and work well as a team. Pray they would increase in awareness, understanding and respect for their clients. Pray for open staff roles to be filled, which include childcare, clinical, and residential specialists.
DAY 6: Pray for monetary needs and service to be provided for Olivia’s House, creating a better living environment for the residents as they go through recovery. Olivia’s House desperately needs two 15-passenger vans to transport residents in the community and upgrades to the facility, such as a new roof and activity center.
Pray for the World
This week, we are praying for one of our external partners, Radooga Ministries in Ukraine (radooga.com). Radooga serves as a valuable platform for connecting with children who have undergone the harsh realities of war and displacement.
DAY 1: The sheer scale of destruction to communities, schools, hospitals and critical infrastructure in Ukraine because of the war is devastating. One in five children in Ukraine are likely to develop depression, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). For many children still inside Ukraine, this war is a tragedy which threatens to stay with them their whole lives. Pray for peace. Pray for safety. Pray for relief from the pain of war.
DAY 2: Radooga has been running robotics clubs and camps since the beginning of the war to redirect children’s attention from war trauma and to bring emotional healing. Radobot clubs were launched in November 2022 in partnership with the local Baptist church. This church held a summer camp together with Radooga Ministries for internally displaced children. 110 children visit this center weekly. The teachers also help the children draw spiritual lessons and learn Christian values through robotic classes. Pray for these classes to be a light shining in their lives.
DAY 3: The war in Ukraine continues to have devastating effects on the entire country. Ukrainian children are all too familiar with losing their homes, schools, friends and even family members. At their tender age, children witness and become victims of unimaginable atrocities, which lead to emotional and psychological trauma. This trauma becomes a heavy burden, which stays with the children for their whole lives. Pray for God to meet these children in their distress, to comfort them, and to save them.
DAY 4: Since the beginning of full-scale war in February, 2022, Radooga conducted and partnered with other ministries to hold 100 children’s camps, offering social and psychological help to 5000 children, and provided an opportunity for 12,000 children to continue their school education. Pray for those running this ministry to find their strength and joy in Jesus Christ alone.
DAY 5: Radooga has discovered that healing children’s trauma is much needed as they move into this phase of war, marked by weariness and PTSD. The only way to deal with trauma is to share pain instead of keeping it inside. Pray for God to pour out his Spirit on this place and these children. Pray for this generation to be marked by the love of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
DAY 6: Pray for an end to the war in Ukraine. Pray for local believers to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the hurting people around them. Pray for the gospel to go forth and for hearts to be softened to hear the good news of Jesus, despite the circumstances around them.
