Pray for the Church
Praise God for how faithful He has been to us and how He has worked in and through us during our 2Strong emphasis. Ask Him to continue to grow us stronger as a church, drawing us close to Him and to one another and using us to help care for one another as we follow Him. Pray for us to continue to go strong to our community, loving our neighbors well and making the most of every opportunity we’re given to have spiritual conversations and to boldly share the gospel.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Serving You Ministries (servingyou.org), a Christ-centered non-profit organization in East Lake serving as a ministry arm of local churches and corporations by partnering with them to reach a lost and hurting world through crisis relief and benevolence ministry. Serving You Ministries partners with Brook Hills to serve both Love Oliver families from Mark’s Village and international families involved in our ESL program. We are also praying for North Park Baptist Church and Pastor Bill Wilks.
DAY 1: Pray for the staff and volunteers at Serving You Ministries (SYM) to become increasingly Christ-like in showing grace, love, and compassion to those in need. Pray for their love to be examples of the Lord’s great love in both word and deed.
DAY 2: Ask God to empower those serving in each area of ministry to boldly share the gospel with everyone entering SYM’s doors. Pray for salvations among those being served and discipleship to begin among those choosing to follow Jesus.
DAY 3: Pray for those seeking support and financial assistance through SYM, for their physical and spiritual needs to be met, and for a sustainable plan to be put in place for the future.
DAY 4: Pray for the single moms seeking assistance to begin thriving as the chains of economic, relational, and spiritual poverty are broken through the gospel. Pray for them to be the spiritual leaders of their households and to share the love of Christ with their children.
DAY 5: Pray for the immigrants and refugees seeking assistance to find support while working to put down roots in Birmingham. Pray they would come to understand the gospel, find a community of believers, and begin to flourish in our city.
DAY 6: Pray for SYM to continue to be a light in Birmingham and for the surrounding community to see God’s love and provision through them. Pray for God to receive great glory through their work.
Pray for the World
This week, let’s join in praying for healthy marriages and team relationships for all of our long-termers and mid-termers serving overseas.
DAY 1: Brook Hills has been blessed to send out 18 married couples and their families to serve overseas. Praise God for the gift of marriage and for the picture of Christ and the Church to the unbelieving world! Pray for these 18 couples to be bold in their witness for the gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations.
DAY 2: Pray for protection over these marriages. Pray they would love and serve their spouses well. Pray there would be no room for the enemy to attack. Pray Christ would be the center of all of their marriages.
DAY 3: Pray for these couples to be a blessing to each other and to their teams. Pray for them to remember their high calling to their spouses. Pray that these marriage relationships would be good models of Christ and the Church to those around them. Pray for all of our Sent Ones to be faithful followers of Jesus in their places of service and in all their relationships.
DAY 4: Pray for husbands to love their wives, as Christ loves the church and gave himself up for her (Ephesians 5:25). Pray for wives to respect and submit to their own husbands, as to the Lord (Ephesians 5:22). Pray in all things, God would be magnified!
DAY 5: Pray for each of the 10 single women serving with Brook Hills. Pray for them to be bold in their witness for Christ. Pray for them to love and serve their teams well. Pray they would be diligent in their language studies and faithful in the service in which God has placed them. Pray for God to raise up more women to go to the nations from our faith family.
DAY 6: Pray for the two single men serving with Brook Hills. Pray for them to seek Christ daily and walk with humility as they serve on their teams. Pray they would be obedient to share Jesus with their local friends and neighbors. Pray they would be diligent in their language studies and faithful in the service in which God has placed them. Pray for God to raise up more men to go to the nations from our faith family.
