Praise God for calling us and gathering us together as The Church at Brook Hills. Ask Him to deepen our commitment to one another and to unite us together further around His gospel contained in His Word. Pray for us to help one another grow in our love for Christ and our desire to obediently follow after him side by side with one another.

This week we are praying for Discovery Clubs, a ministry of the Birmingham Metro Baptist Association (BMBA). Discovery Clubs are weekly after-school Bible clubs that meet in dozens of public elementary schools across the greater Birmingham metro area, offering fun & inspirational activities to help children know about the love of Christ. Discovery Clubs teach the gospel to children while also building Biblical foundations for life, developing character, and changing families.

DAY 1: Pray for the Birmingham metro area schools that are allowing Discovery Clubs to meet on their campuses again. Prior to the pandemic, they met in 30 schools. Currently, they are in 18 schools. Pray that many more schools will be open to having volunteers in their buildings soon.

DAY 2: Pray for the students Discovery Clubs will reach this upcoming school year. Pray for their salvation and safety and peace for each student and their families. Pray that as they attend DC, they will know that Jesus loves them deeply and that the volunteers do too!

DAY 3: Pray for the school supervisors that oversee the club meeting at each school. Pray for the love of Christ to shine through them and for God to give them wisdom as they walk through hard places with their students and volunteers.

DAY 4: Pray for new volunteers and mentors at Discovery Clubs. Pray for their protection, success, and faithfulness.

DAY 5: Pray for financial provision for Discovery Clubs as they are no longer a subsidiary of Jimmie Hale Mission. Pray that as they begin to forge new funding opportunities under BMBA the Lord would bless their efforts.

DAY 6: Pray for Discovery Clubs current church partners that are supporting DC financially, through prayer, and with much needed volunteers. Pray that the Lord would bless them for their generosity. Pray that many other churches would join in partnership with Discovery Clubs.

This week, we are praying for some of our Long Term Partners, Philip & Joanna Z, and their daughter, Alice. Philip, Joanna, and Alice live in Southeast Asia. Their team trains local believers in evangelism, discipleship, and church planting, in an urban context. They enjoy shepherding local believers in missional communities that meet in their home. They also run a digital strategy to find spiritual seekers online and connect them with local believers who can share the good news with them in person and disciple those who believe.

DAY 1: Pray for Philip and Joanna’s marriage to be a beautiful representation of the gospel to those around them. Pray that they will communicate well and clearly and that their example will be an encouragement to their community.

DAY 2: Pray for Philip & Joanna to parent Alice well, with grace and wisdom. Pray that Alice will come to know Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Pray for Alice at her local daycare. Pray for good friendships and for her to learn the local language.

DAY 3: Pray for Joanna as she seeks to read the Bible with local women in her community. She has started reading Mark 1 with a friend, Gail.* Pray that Gail will understand the good news and repent and believe in Jesus.

DAY 4: Pray for Buddhist friends who have been interested in Jesus to have open hearts to the gospel and hunger for a relationship with God through Jesus.

DAY 5: Pray for more opportunities in their neighborhood to meet and share the gospel. Pray for their language abilities, and for them to have hearts willing and ready to share. Pray for favor from God as they seek to strengthen friendships with people around the city and lovingly tell them what God has done for them.

DAY 6: Pray for divine connections with more local believers in their city who want to help reach their whole nation with the gospel. Pray for local believers to abide in Jesus and to live hopefully and joyfully, even when facing persecution from family and friends.
