Pray for the Church
Praise God for His loving kindness displayed toward all of us. Pray for the members of our faith family with special needs. Thank God for the blessings they are to our church. Ask God to help us see and value the dignity and worth in all people. Pray for the families of our special needs members, asking God to strengthen and sustain them for the special work they have in caring for their family members.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for our local Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) ministry, along with Brook Hills members and FCA leaders, Theresa Chamblee and Sarah Witkowski. FCA aims to lead every coach and athlete in Jefferson and Shelby Counties into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church by engaging, equipping, and empowering coaches and athletes on their campus, in their communities, and through sports camps. We’re also praying for Antioch Church, UAB and Pastor Kevin Naylor.
Day 1: Pray for local coaches and students as they return to a school year with so many unknowns. Pray campus leaders are still able to share the gospel and shed light during such a dark and confusing time. Pray for many more athletes to profess Jesus as Lord.
Day 2: Pray for our local FCA staff as they learn to be creative around, adhere to, and be respectful of each school’s policies during these unprecedented times.
Day 3: Pray God provides a new office space for FCA where staff can meet and work. Pray for this new office space to allow FCA to continue to meet the needs of the local athletes and coaches.
Day 4: Pray for the FCA students at UAB. Pray they would remain virus-free. Pray for classes to be able to be completed with excellence. Pray for each athlete to be able to participate in their sport this year.
Day 5: Pray for the faculty, staff, and coaches at UAB as they navigate this year of unknowns. Pray for wisdom and patience as they deal with students, parents, and the government guidelines.
Day 6: Pray for God to raise up new ministry board members and volunteers that have a servant heart and love to work with student athletes and coaches.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the citizens of Lake Charles, Louisiana as they recover from the aftermath of Hurricane Laura. Early on August 27, Hurricane Laura made landfall near peak intensity and caused the death of at least 70 people and inflicted and estimated $8.9 billion in insured damage on southwestern Louisiana and southeastern Texas near the Gulf of Mexico. Lake Charles, LA and its surrounding area seem to be the epicenter of damage with much of the city’s infrastructure severely damaged. This week we want to pray for two local churches in the Lake Charles, LA area, Crossroads Moss Bluff and First Moss Bluff. Both of these churches have significant damage and are on the frontlines of helping their faith family members and their community endure in this recovery effort. We are also praying for our partners at Samaritan’s Purse as they serve the community by deploying relief teams to this area of Louisiana.
Day 1: Pray for those who are suffering due to the loss of life and property in Lake Charles, LA. Pray for God to be merciful to them and comfort them in their time of need.
Day 2: Pray for the faith family at First Moss Bluff in Lake Charles, LA. Pray for God to provide for their needs and to use them in the community to show grace and kindness to those in need.
Day 3: Pray for the faith family at Crossroads Moss Bluff in Lake Charles, LA. Pray for those who have lost their homes and loved ones. Pray for God to strengthen their church as they suffer together and care for one another. Pray for God to provide for their every need.
Day 4: Pray for the pastors and staff at both Crossroads Moss Bluff and First Moss Bluff church. Not only are they caring for members of their faith family, but most of them have also experienced personal damage and loss. Pray for God to give wisdom to their pastors as they care for their people and community and make them steadfast as they serve and care for their family as well.
Day 5: Pray for our partners at Samaritan’s Purse as they come alongside those in the Lake Charles community who need help with clearing trees, debris, and clean-up for their home and property. Pray for the gospel to be on display and for many to find comfort as they are served by these teams.
Day 6: Pray for those who have been affected by Hurricane Laura and who do not know Christ. Pray for God to give them the opportunity to hear the gospel and find refuge in Christ who gives life and who is peace in the storm.
