Pray for the Church
Praise God for His love He so graciously lavishes upon us. Ask Him to help all of us grow in our love for Him, for His people, and for His Word. Pray for us all to walk in obedience to God as an extension of our love for Him and motivated by His love for us. Thank God for the victory made possible by grace through faith.
Pray for the City
Today is Orphan Sunday, which means churches around the globe are raising awareness of the orphan crisis as well as
celebrating how the Father has moved in His people to care for orphans. This week, we are praying for orphans in our city
as well as the families, agencies, churches, institutions, and ministries who are seeking to care for them. We are also praying for Philadelphia Baptist Church and Pastor Cory Varden.
Day 1: Pray for adoptive and foster families at Brook Hills. Pray for the Lord to bind them together in love for Him and for
one another, and for Him to give them the wisdom, knowledge, skills, and compassion needed for the children He brings
into their homes.
Day 2: Pray for God to empower the WRAP teams surrounding our foster families to take initiative in serving, supporting,
and building relationships with the families they are walking alongside. Pray for more WRAP teams.
Day 3: Pray for the children within our faith family who have been adopted or are currently in the foster care system. Pray
they will know the Father’s love through Jesus Christ and His Body, experience His provision, and trust His plan.
Day 4: Pray for God’s favor on the ministries and agencies serving orphans in our city, including ministries like Lifeline
Children’s Services, Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes, King’s Home, Grace House, and DHR.
Day 5: Pray for the children in our city who are waiting on a permanent family placement. Pray for the Lord to meet their
needs, heal their wounds, and provide loving, Christian families for each of them.
Day 6: Ask the Lord to continue to stir the hearts of His people to care for orphans, and to give more members of Brook Hills the faith and courage to obey His call.
Pray for the World
This week we want to focus our prayers on the worldwide orphan crisis. There are approximately 153 million orphaned children in the world. This number excludes institutionalized children, children on the streets, or children who are at risk, neglected or abused. Of these children, only .5% will have the opportunity for international adoption. This means our care for the orphan has to extend beyond adoption. This is why Brook Hills partners with Lifeline Children’s Services and their (un)Adopted program to care specifically for orphaned children living in Liberia. Through this partnership with (un)Adopted, we are able to help care for orphans who will most likely never be adopted and develop opportunities to hear the gospel, learn life skills, develop career awareness, and receive education that will sustain them and offer a healthy transition into productive adulthood. For more information about Lifeline (un)Adopted visit unadopted.org.
Day 1: Thank God for the lives of the children living in orphanages in Liberia and throughout the world. Pray for God to provide for their every need and to mobilize His church to care for the orphaned child.
Day 2: Pray for the young men and women who are attending and who will graduate from the REAP Life Skills program in Liberia. Pray for students to feel confident in what they are learning and more importantly to have confidence in their future because of what Christ has done on their behalf.
Day 3: A goal of the REAP Life Skills program in Liberia, is to equip students with skills needed to transition into productive adulthood. Pray for the participants to be eager to learn, persistent to grow in knowledge, and disciplined to persevere as they refine the skills they have learned.
Day 4: There is a network of orphanages in Liberia that are caring for thousands of orphaned children. Pray for the children in these orphanages to flourish under the love of their caretakers and for them to hear the gospel and know Christ as their Savior.
Day 5: Pray for Lifeline (un)Adopted as they equip and train caregivers with the skills and knowledge they need to provide wholistic care for the children living in their orphanages.
Day 6: Thank God for the leadership at (un)Adopted. Pray for God to continue to give them wisdom and clarity on how best to care for orphaned children, make disciples, and empower the global Church to glorify God by caring for orphaned and vulnerable children around the world.
