Pray for the Church
Praise God for leading us to repentance when we have sinned and disobeyed Him. Thank Him for His forgiveness and faithfulness. Ask Him to grant each of us boldness in our witness of Him. Pray for many to repent and believe the gospel of Christ through our witness.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for the Brook Hills ESL Ministry (English As a Second Language). Over the past six years, the ESL Ministry has served over 300 international adults and their families from 36 different countries. ESL classes and a Bible club for kids began virtually on October 1st and will continue through May. Click here to learn more information about our ESL Ministry.
We are also praying this week for Birmingham International Church and Pastor Ron Higey.
Day 1: Pray for the international adults who will participate in the ESL program this year. Pray God will continue to bring students from nations with little to no access to the gospel and will give all of our students the patience, skills, and mental strength necessary to learn the English language.
Day 2: Pray for the children who will participate online in the Bible club on Thursday evenings. Pray for their hearts and minds to learn new truths about God each week from their Bible-centered lessons and to retell these stories to their families.
Day 3: Pray for the perseverance and faithfulness of volunteers in every area of the ESL ministry to cultivate a safe, welcoming, and loving environment for the students and their families. Pray for them to have opportunities for gospel-centered conversations with students and their families.
Day 4: Pray for the internationals who have come to faith through the ESL Ministry to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, grow in their faith, find community with a local church, and make disciples.
Day 5: Pray for the men and women’s ESL Bible study groups who will meet together this year. Pray these students, from a variety of spiritual backgrounds, will understand the Word of God and be transformed by it.
Day 6: Pray for Courtney Simpson, our ESL Director, Melissa Parker, our ESL Children’s Coordinator, and for 41 other volunteer leaders within the ministry this fall as they make decisions regarding the direction of our ESL Ministry in order to show and share the love of Christ with more internationals in our city.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for our partners at Neverthirst and the projects we have been able to support this last year in Cambodia. In Cambodia, almost 5.4 million people get their drinking water from an unsafe source. This causes sickness, extra expenditures, and physical stress when water is not readily available. Through the Global Offering, Brook Hills has been able to build water wells and bio-sand filters in partnership with local believers and churches. This provides access to clean water, and access to the gospel for rural villagers throughout Cambodia. Join us as we pray for Neverthirst and those who are receiving access to clean water and the gospel.
Day 1: Praise God for allowing our faith family to participate in bringing clean water and the good news of living water in Christ to rural villages throughout Cambodia.
Day 2: Pray for the local believers and pastors in Cambodia as they share the gospel with their communities. Pray for the new access to clean water sources to draw many in the village so gospel conversations can happen and many to hear of Christ.
Day 3: Pray for God to continue to open doors for Neverthirst into new countries and communities who need access to clean water and to Christ.
Day 4: Pray for God to move in the villages of Cambodia where Neverthirst is working. Pray for many to repent and believe in Christ.
Day 5: Pray for God to give wisdom to the leadership of Neverthirst. Pray for God to make them successful in strengthening the local church in Cambodia.
Day 6: Pray for God to be glorified as we partner with Neverthirst. Pray for our church to continue to provide for the urgent physical and spiritual needs of those around the world.
