Scripture Memory
Pray for the Church
Praise God for calling us out of our sin and making us a holy people. Ask for His help to not be tainted by this world even though we live in it for a time. Pray for God to unite us together in our service of Him, and ask Him to use us mightily to accomplish His work in this world.
Pray for the City
Since 1984, the third Sunday in January has been nationally observed by the pro-life community as Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. In light of this day, we are praying especially for the lives of the unborn, their parents, and for all people to recognize the intrinsic value of all human life from the moment of conception to natural death. We are also praying for Hunter Street Baptist Church and Pastor Buddy Gray.
DAY 1: Pray for the women in our city and across the nation who are pregnant, for them to comprehend the immeasurable value of the child they are carrying and for God to give them the strength, courage, and relational support to choose life.
DAY 2: Pray for the Church to stand in the gap for the unborn, the most defenseless of God’s children, and to seek to make disciples among the parents of the unborn who are not yet believers.
DAY 3: Pray for elected officials and medical professionals to experience conversion of mind and heart about supporting abortion on demand and for court decisions that permit the destruction of the unborn to be permanently reversed.
DAY 4: Pray for men and women who are mourning the loss of a child to abortion. Pray for the gentle and merciful love of God to heal their innermost being so that they might know repentance, mercy, forgiveness, and peace.
DAY 5: Pray for Sav-A-Life Ministries in Vestavia and Pelham, Lifeline Children’s Services, Her Choice, Positive Choices, and other pregnancy resource centers in our city that offer free resources, education, support, and counseling to couples facing crisis pregnancies.
DAY 6: Pray for the gospel to go out through the Christian pregnancy resource centers across our city and nation, accompanied by love and good works, and turn many unbelieving men and women back to God.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for Brook Hills member organization Lantern Vision. Lantern Vision was created to help illuminate the story and work of Christians across the world. Their main focus and goal is to collect and tell stories of how God is working around the world to help support mission organizations, churches, and individuals who are engaging the world with the gospel. Day 1: Lantern Vision is led by Brook Hills member Nathan Troost. Pray for God to continue to give wisdom and guidance to Nathan as he leads Lantern Vision.
Day 2: Praise God for Lantern Vision and how He is using Nathan and his team to proclaim the good news of Christ in the lives of people around the world. Nathan and his team are travelling this week with a group in the Dominican Republic. Pray for their trip to be effective and for fruitful filming with partners there.
Day 3: Pray for the stories that Lantern Vision produces to mobilize the church to participate in global missions around the world and ultimately that people would be saved and churches would be planted.
Day 4: Pray for the men and women whose stories are being told. Pray for God’s message of hope to be shared through them, to inspire and encourage other people to believe in Christ and advance the Kingdom of God.
Day 5: Pray for Nathan and his wife Flori. Pray for the Lord to glorify himself in their family and through their ministry together.
Day 6: There are many stories to tell. Pray for Nathan and his team to be sensitive to God leading to capture the right stories that will honor and glorify the name of Christ among all nations.
