Scripture Memory
Pray for the Church
Praise God for His presence in our lives, especially in the midst of opposition and oppression. Pray for God’s strength and perseverance to endure the hardships of our world. Ask God to lead us to repentance for any sins in our lives. Pray for God to grant wisdom and discernment to each of us individually and to us corporately as a church.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for the incarcerated men and women in the Birmingham Metro Area and for the ministries through which they are able to hear and respond to the gospel and be discipled within our local jails and prisons. Pray for brothers and sisters who have come to faith and who are daily making disciples behind the bars. We are also praying for The Church Behind Bars, St. Clair Prison, and Pastor Tommy.
DAY 1: Pray for the incarcerated men and women in our city, for God to protect them from evil and grant those who do not know Christ the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel in true repentance and faith.
DAY 2: Pray for the families of the incarcerated who are grieving separation from their loved ones, for them to receive care and godly counsel from Christian friends, churches, and family members and find hope in Jesus Christ.
DAY 3: Pray for the chaplains, ministers, and other volunteers who are regularly sharing Christ in jails and prisons across our state. Pray especially for Brook Hills member, Jeremy Miller, as he serves as chaplain at St. Clair Prison and for our other volunteers who serve there, at Birmingham City Jail, at Jefferson County Jail, and at Shelby County Jail on a regular basis.
DAY 4: Pray for believers who work in the jails and prisons, for God to give them opportunities and boldness to testify to the good news of God’s grace among coworkers and the incarcerated.
DAY 5: Pray for the churches that gather behind bars, that they would continue meeting together to worship God, making disciples who make disciples, and spurring one another on toward love and good deeds.
DAY 6: Pray for those who have trusted in Christ while behind bars and who will soon be released. Pray for God to provide immediate Christ-centered community, jobs, and discipleship as they re-enter society.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for Brook Hills Mid-Termer Julia B., serving in North Africa. Julia was sent out from Brook Hills last year to serve for two years as the principal of an international primary school in North Africa. Julia has been serving the students and staff this last school year in order for many of them to be in-country as long-term workers. Join us as we pray for Julia and the impact she is having by serving in North Africa.
DAY 1: Julia lives in a city with a population of over nine million people, most of whom do not know Christ. Pray for God to give Julia many opportunities to share the gospel with her friends and neighbors.
DAY 2: Pray for Julia to be a light in her community and in her apartment complex. Pray for God to open doors for Julia to host friends in her home so that she can share the gospel and build deep, meaningful friendships.
DAY 3: Julia has many duties each day serving at her school. Pray for God to give Julia wisdom and discernment as she leads the staff and students at her school. Pray for God to use Julia to make His name known at her school.
DAY 4: Pray for God to provide for Julia in every way. Pray for Julia to trust God and to be confident in what He is accomplishing through her life.
DAY 5: Julia is contributing to an incredible work of God in North Africa. Pray for God to continue to move in the hearts and souls of men and women across Julia’s city. Pray for the church to continue to grow and for more people to be saved.
DAY 6: Pray for God to call others to fill those roles and strengthen the school that is in the heart of the international community in Julia’s city.
