Pray for the Church
Praise God for His holiness and justice as well as His grace and mercy. Pray for us all to have hearts open to receive rebuke and correction from God. Ask Him to search us and reveal anyways we make light of Him and the things He has done and is doing in our lives, church, and world. Thank Him for His loving patience and faithfulness toward us. Ask Him to help us all devote ourselves to knowing Him and His Word and walking in holy obedience with Him.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for reconciliation and unity in the Body of Christ in Birmingham for the sake of effectively proclaiming and portraying the power of the gospel together. We are particularly praying that each of us will be instruments in the Redeemer’s Hand in pursuing unity in His Body as He reconciles all things in Christ (Colossians 1:19-20; Ephesians 2: 14-16). We’re also praying for The Worship Center Christian Church and Pastor Van Moody.
Day 1: Pray for all of our members to reflect the love of Christ across all ethnic, racial, socio-economic, and man-made barriers in our city. Pray especially for those intentionally serving alongside our city partners such as Serving You Ministries, Oak Tree Ministries, Oliver Elementary School, and Iglesia La Conexion to be aware of the painful experiences of others and pursue peace in our city through gospel-centered relationships.
Day 2: Pray for all believers across Birmingham to pursue unity with believers of other ethnicities, showing love, grace, forgiveness, compassion, and humility in a way that displays Christ’s character to the entire city.
Day 3: Pray for God to make us aware of any of our own sins, prejudices, ignorance, ethnocentric attitudes, or apathy that is keeping us from displaying the power of the gospel through the unity of His Body.
Day 4: Pray for all evangelical church leaders in Birmingham to reflect the unity of the Spirit by initiating partnerships and friendships with one another to display, demonstrate, and declare the gospel across our city.
Day 5: Pray for the Spirit to lead Christians of all ethnicities to walk in forgiveness toward one another, extending grace to those who have caused division or have acted unjustly intentionally, or unintentionally.
Day 6: Pray for evangelical church leaders across the city to be willing to mobilize their people to make disciples in low-income urban areas and among ethnicities that are isolated from the Church.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the Baloch. The Baloch are among the most prioritized unreached, unengaged people groups in the world. The majority of the over 10 million Baloch people are located between Central and South Asia and are entirely Muslim. Access to this people group is very challenging. The Baloch are a fierce people, full of passion and intensity. Join us this week as we pray for the Baloch.
Day 1: This month, the Baloch team will have their first-ever regional meeting with all the workers serving this people group coming together to fellowship, be refreshed, and hear about the work around the world. Pray for this time to be an encouragement and a blessing to all involved. Pray for their safety and for all the logistics. Praise the Father for providing this opportunity.
Day 2: Pray for God to open the hearts of the Baloch people to the glory of his Son, Jesus Christ. Pray for God to establish His Church among the Baloch people.
Day 3: This year, work is being established in previously unengaged countries in Central Asia. Pray for God to provide good initial contacts for the teams arriving there. Pray for Him to lead them to the right locations and people that He has prepared for them in advance.
Day 4: We praise God for two believers, Adam and Nehemiah, working in some of the most remote and hard-to-reach places within the country that is considered the homeland of the Baloch. They are providing physical needs for the people who are under persecution from a local hostile group, and also sharing the Good News as relationships are established. Pray for their safety and for the Father to use them mightily.
Day 5: Pray for believers to grow in the Lord and establish churches among the Baloch.
Day 6: Pray for those who are currently engaging the Baloch around the world to be filled with wisdom, love, and boldness. Pray for their language learning. Pray for God to bless and expand their language so they can communicate the Good News faithfully and clearly.
