Pray for the Church
Praise God for the gracious leadership He has granted to our church through the staff and volunteers of our Worship Ministry. Thank God for leading us to and providing for us a new candidate for our Worship Pastor. Pray for discernment and guidance as we consider this candidate over the next two weeks. Pray for God to prepare him and his family for this time of transition. Ask God to unite us all in the fellowship of corporate worship together. Pray for our elders as they continue to lead us through this process.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for ministry to the fatherless at Brook Hills. Many in our Faith Family have sacrificially responded to the Biblical mandate to care for the fatherless, whether that has been by serving through foster care, adoption, WRAP Ministry, orphan care partners, or in Marks Village and Oliver Elementary where there is a high percentage of fatherless households. Let us lift up these individuals, families, small groups, organizations, and the children for whom they are caring. We are also praying for Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Pratt City, and Pastor Q.E. Hammonds.
Day 1: Pray for the children in Brook Hills foster care homes. Ask the Father to comfort them in their loss and confusion and to protect their hearts so that they do not become hardened, but remain open and receptive to the love of their foster family.
Day 2: Pray that our foster parents will guard and protect their time with the Lord and that they will spend time in the Word and in prayer each day so that they are able to parent out of His provision and not their own strength.
Day 3: Ask the Father to help foster parents love deeply and unconditionally. Pray that they will seize every opportunity to speak eternal truths into the hearts of their children, reminding them that they are loved, valued, wonderfully and fearfully made and treasured.
Day 4: Pray for our Birmingham agency and ministry partners that provide the training for and licensing of foster parents. Ask the Father to encourage them as they spend countless hours facilitating classes, doing home studies and dealing with mountains of paperwork.
Day 5: Give thanks for the amazing WRAP Ministry volunteers and leaders who are giving of their time and talents to come alongside many of our foster families providing prayer, encouragement, meals, tutoring, quilts, blankets and lots of love.
Day 6: Pray for the fatherless children in Marks Village and Oliver Elementary School and for the members of our Faith Family who have gone out of their way to provide godly influence in their lives through the Bible Club, Oliver Breakfast Club, Oliver Discovery Club, Oak Tree Reading Club, and other avenues.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for Brook Hills Long-Termer, Jenny W. serving in East Asia. Jenny serves as a Physical Therapist at a hospital in East Asia and is part of our Brook Hills East Asia Church Planting Team. Join us this week as we pray for Jenny.
Day 1: Over the holidays Jenny was able to host several Christmas parties that provided open doors to share the gospel. Pray that those who heard would continue to ask questions and be saved.
Day 2: Jenny is taking language classes at a local university. Pray for the Holy Spirit to help her adequately learn the language and be able to effectively communicate when speaking about spiritual truths.
Day 3: Praise God that He has provided colleagues and friends for Jenny to get to know. Pray for those relationships to deepen and for many opportunities to share the good news with those in her community.
Day 4: Jenny will be getting a new roommate at the end of February. Pray for Jenny as she helps her roommate adjust to East Asia and for them to be unified as they serve together.
Day 5: Jenny continues to be very busy with school, work, and ministry. Pray for Jenny to find times of rest and for the Lord to restore her soul and provide for her every need.
Day 6: Praise God for all He is accomplishing through Jenny’s life. Pray that Jenny will continue to be confident that the Lord is using her to make His name known.
His Name is Jesus
Verse 1
All hail the pow'r of Jesus' name
Let angels prostrate fall
Bring forth the royal diadem
And crown Him Lord of all
Bring forth the royal diadem
And crown Him Lord of all
Verse 2
Ye chosen seed of Israel's race
Ye ransomed from the fall
Hail Him who saves you by His grace
And crown Him Lord of all
Hail Him who saves you by His grace
And crown Him Lord of all
Chorus
His name is Jesus
Risen Lamb for sinners slain
His name is Jesus
All creation sings the praise
Of Jesus' name
Verse 3
Let e'ery kindred e'ery tribe
On this terrestrial ball
To Him all majesty ascribe
And crown Him Lord of all
To Him all majesty ascribe
And crown Him Lord of all
Verse 4
O that with yonder sacred throng
We at His feet may fall
We'll join the everlasting song
And crown Him Lord of all
We'll join the everlasting song
And crown Him Lord of all
Man Of Sorrows
Man of sorrows Lamb of God
By His own betrayed
The sin of man and wrath of God
Has been on Jesus laid
Oh that rugged cross my salvation
Where Your love poured out over me
Now my soul cries out hallelujah
Praise and honour unto Thee
Silent as He stood accused
Beaten mocked and scorned
Bowing to the Father's will
He took a crown of thorns
Oh that rugged cross my salvation
Where Your love poured out over me
Now my soul cries out hallelujah
Praise and honour unto Thee
Sent of heaven God's own Son
To purchase and redeem
And reconcile the very ones
Who nailed Him to that tree
Now my debt is paid
It is paid in full
By the precious blood
That my Jesus spilled
Now the curse of sin
Has no hold on me
Whom the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
See the stone is rolled away
Behold the empty tomb
Hallelujah God be praised
He's risen from the grave
Christ is Risen
Verse 1
Let no one caught in sin remain
Inside the lie of inward shame
But fix our eyes upon the cross
And run to Him who showed great love
And bled for us
Freely You've bled for us
Chorus 1
Christ is risen from the dead
Trampling over death by death
Come awake come awake
Come and rise up from the grave
Christ is risen from the dead
We are one with Him again
Come awake come awake
Come and rise up from the grave
Verse 2
Beneath the weight of all our sin
You bowed to none but heaven's will
No scheme of hell no scoffer's crown
No burden great can hold You down
In strength You reign
Forever let Your church proclaim
Bridge
O death where is your sting
O hell where is your victory
O church come stand in the light
The glory of God has defeated the night
Singing O death where is your sting
O hell where is your victory
O church come stand in the light
Our God is not dead He's alive He's alive
