Pray for the Church
Ask God to reveal any sin in our lives and to lovingly lead us to repentance. Pray for Him to grow our boldness in our witness, and ask the Spirit to help give us the words we need to help others hear and understand the gospel. Pray for unity in our church and for us to be known by our love for on another.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Brook Hills Foster Care Ministry and other ministries in and around the city of Birmingham and the families whose lives they touch. There are currently 6,000 children in foster care in the state of Alabama. In Jefferson and Shelby counties alone, there are over 1,000 children in foster care, and with more kids going into care each month. Many more licensed foster homes are needed so children can receive the care they need. We are also praying for Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church and Pastor Bob Flayhart.
Day 1: Pray for the children in Brook Hills foster care homes. Ask our Father to comfort them in their loss and confusion, to protect their hearts, help them build trusting relationships, and to find healing. Pray for grace filled gospel conversations with our foster children.
Day 2: Pray that our foster care parents will guard and protect their time with the Lord, time in the Word and in prayer so that they are able to parent out of His provision and grace and not out of their own strength. Pray God will call more foster parents from among us.
Day 3: Pray for wisdom for those in our Court system and all those that speak and advocate for children in the Foster Care system: Judges, Attorneys, Guardians Ad Litem (GALs), Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Forensic Interviewers.
Day 4: Pray for our Birmingham agency and ministry partners that provide the training for and licensing of foster parents. Ask our Father to encourage them as they spend countless hours facilitating classes, doing home studies, and dealing with mountains of paperwork.
Day 5: Pray for the many Birmingham agencies and ministry partners that support Foster and Adoptive families including, Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes and Family Ministries, Pathways Professional Counseling, Lifeline Children’s Services, Families Count, Blanket Fort Hope, Alabama DHR staff, APAC Adoption Services, Owen’s House, Prescott Place, Grace House, and King’s Home.
Day 6: Give thanks for the amazing WRAP Ministry volunteers and Small Groups who are giving of their time and talents to come alongside many of our foster families providing prayer, encouragement, meals, relief/respite care, tutoring, quilts, personalized blankets, and lots of love.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the many student spring break short-term trips leaving next week. These trips will be to New Orleans, Nicaragua, Dearborn, Peru, and SIFAT (a mission’s training school).
Day 1: Pray for the team as they travel and arrive in their various locations. Pray for smooth logistics and for a safe arrival. Pray that if there is any tiredness from travel, that students and leaders would adjust quickly so they can serve eagerly.
Day 2: Pray for our BH students as they go out into their various locations. Pray that they would be sensitive to the Spirit’s leading in conversations. Ask that doors would be opened for the gospel to be proclaimed boldly and displayed vividly in their love.
Day 3: Pray that the partners we work with would be encouraged and strengthened in these various locations.
Day 4: Pray for the students on this trip to be impacted by their time. Pray that their worldview would be broadened and that their hearts would be softened to the work God is doing around the world. Pray that they would be encouraged towards deeper faithfulness.
Day 5: Pray for those in leadership of these teams that God would strengthen them and give them endurance.
Day 6: Pray for those that students will serve and engage with the gospel. Pray that the Lord would already be working in their hearts, and ask that He would call them to salvation.
