Pray for the Church
Praise God for the gift of His Word. Pray both our corporate and personal worship will be centered around and driven by our study of God’s Word. Ask God to grant us wisdom for how we lead and encourage one another in our worship of Him. Pray we will be exuberant in our musical worship as an overflow of the joy and praise we feel in our hearts. Pray our worship of all kinds will be saturated in our thankfulness to God for all He has done and continues to do for us. Pray we will all live every aspect of our lives for the glory of God.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Metro Changers, a faith-based organization that equips groups of volunteers to work together to provide renovation and home repair services at no cost to elderly or low-income homeowners. We are also praying for North Shelby Baptist and Pastor Allan Murphy.
DAY 1: Pray for those coming from all over the southeast to participate in work projects in Birmingham this summer. Pray they will grow deeper in their personal walk with Christ through serving others.
DAY 2: Pray for the homeowners and other members of the community who will interact with Metro Changers work crews over the summer. Pray they will see the love of Christ on display and will have the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel.
DAY 3: Pray for safety as out-of-state volunteer crews travel to and from Birmingham this summer and as they perform home repairs at their work sites.
DAY 4: Pray more local congregations will look for strategic ways to be involved in urban ministry and will partner with organizations like Metro Changers and Birmingham Baptist Association to show the gospel by meeting physical needs and share the gospel through relationships built.
DAY 5: Pray the mission teams coming to serve in Birmingham will be encouraged to return home and make a difference in their own states, cities, and neighborhoods.
DAY 6: Pray for the staff and leadership at Metro Changers as they seek God’s will in serving low-income families and the elderly in Birmingham through home repair. Pray for the financial resources they need to accomplish the ministry they have been called to lead.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for Brook Hills field partners serving among unreached people groups in Turkey. Turkey is home to nearly 75 million people and its strategic location has made it a geographically significant country throughout history. Despite the fact that Turkey is a predominantly Muslim country (96%), it is home to many locations mentioned in the New Testament. Brook Hills works strategically with a few partners in Turkey to strengthen the Long-Term disciple-making work that is happening in the small evangelical communities there. Join us this week as we pray for our field partners in Turkey. We are also praying for our Short-Term teams serving in South Asia, East Asia, and the Middle East.
DAY 1: There is a small evangelical church in the heart of southeastern Turkey that is facing tremendous persecution including seizure of property. Pastor A. is a friend and partner to The Church at Brook Hills. Pray for Pastor A. and the 80 believers gathered there. Pray for God to make them steadfast and to strengthen their faith as they face persecution because of their bold witness of the gospel.
DAY 2: The Zaza people are one of the largest unreached and unengaged people groups left in Turkey. There are close to 3 million Zaza people. Pray for our field partner Ryan and the few Zaza brothers he works with to be welcomed into Zaza homes. Pray for God to call Zaza men and women to himself.
DAY 3: Pray for our field partner Ted as he seeks wisdom on how to engage the majority Muslim population in his city. There are only a handful of believers but no gathered church. Pray for God to show Ted his role in making disciples and for the church to be established.
DAY 4: The Church at Brook Hills has partnered with local believers in southern Turkey to put up billboards and advertising posters throughout the city center and on public transportation to connect people who are interested in knowing Christ to believers in the area. Pray for the success of this endeavor. Pray for many to believe.
DAY 5: Songu is a sister in Christ who has faced severe persecution from her family. She only knows a handful of other believers in her city. Her greatest desire is to see her children come to faith in Christ. Pray for her three children to hear the gospel from their mother and to believe.
DAY 6: There is a refugee center in Istanbul that many Brook Hills Mid- Termers have served in. Pray for the partners there in Istanbul as they navigate the difficulties of serving refugee populations well. Pray for wisdom as they try to keep their doors open despite pressures to close the center from the government.
10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)
Chorus
Bless the Lord O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name
Verse 1
The sun comes up it's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes
Verse 2
You're rich in love and You're slow to anger
Your name is great and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find
Verse 3
And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore
Great Are You Lord
Verse 1
You give life You are love
You bring light to the darkness
You give hope You restore ev'ry heart that is broken
And great are You Lord
Chorus
It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise
We pour out our praise
It's Your breath in our lungs
So we pour out our praise to You only
Bridge
And all the earth will shout Your praise
Our hearts will cry these bones will sing
Great are You Lord
(REPEAT)
All I Have is Christ
Verse 1
I once was lost in darkest night
Yet thought I knew the way
The sin that promised joy and life
Had led me to the grave
I had no hope that You would own
A rebel to Your will
And if You had not loved me first
I would refuse You still
Verse 2
But as I ran my hell-bound race
Indifferent to the cost
You looked upon my helpless state
And led me to the cross
And I beheld God's love displayed
You suffered in my place
You bore the wrath reserved for me
Now all I know is grace
Chorus
Hallelujah all I have is Christ
Hallelujah Jesus is my life
Verse 3
Now Lord I would be Yours alone
And live so all might see
The strength to follow Your commands
Could never come from me
O Father use my ransomed life
In any way You choose
And let my song forever be
My only boast is You
Beneath the Waters (I Will Rise)
Verse 1
This is my revelation
Christ Jesus crucified
Salvation through repentance
At the cross on which He died
Verse 2
Now here my absolution
Forgiveness for my sin
And I sink beneath the waters
That Christ was buried in
Chorus 1
I will rise
I will rise
As Christ was raised to life
Now in Him
Now in Him I live
Verse 3
I stand a new creation
Baptised in blood and fire
No fear of condemnation
By faith I'm justified
Bridge
I rise as You are risen
Declare Your rule and reign
My life confess Your Lordship
And glorify Your Name
Your word it stands eternal
Your kingdom knows no end
Your praise goes on forever
And on and on again
No pow'r can stand against You
No curse assault Your throne
No one can steal Your glory
For it is Yours alone
I stand to sing Your praises
I stand to testify
For I was dead in my sin
Chorus 2
But now I rise
I will rise
As Christ was raised to life
Now in Him
Now in Him I live
