Pray for the Church
Praise God for all those who have gone before us, demonstrating what true faith looks like. Thank God for His sovereignty over all history yet for the personal way he acts in our lives. Ask God to help us in our struggle against sin, specifically to live lives of continuous repentance. Pray for perseverance as we all strive to follow Christ more closely in a world of distractions and obstacles. Pray for God to continue to sanctify us as we follow after Him. Praise God for the Lordship of Christ and pray for the day when He will return as conquering King.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for the Love Oliver Back-to-School outreach event taking place this Saturday. Love Oliver is a partnership with the staff and families at Oliver Elementary School in East Lake. This partnership provides an avenue for Brook Hills members and other community partners to join hands with Oliver families in addressing economic, academic, spiritual, and social barriers and to grow in Christ-likeness as we serve and love Oliver together. We are also praying for Mt. Mariah Missionary Baptist Church and Pastor Darryl Lee.
DAY 1: Pray for the Oliver students and families who will attend the Back-to-School event on Saturday, July 30. Families attending this event will receive free school supplies and uniforms in exchange for the points they’ve earned at school. Praise God for His faithfulness in providing the funds necessary for every student to begin the school year prepared!
DAY 2: Pray for the families attending this event to receive heart- felt, gospel-motivated hospitality from the moment they walk in the door. Pray for the volunteers to have opportunities to pray with every family and connect them with local members of the Body of Christ.
DAY 3: Pray for the Christian organizations and community partners that will be represented at the event, providing services that can empower Oliver families to enjoy God’s good design for their lives.
DAY 4: Pray for God to use this Back-to-School outreach event as a catalyst for community-wide support for Oliver Elementary School, and that the transforming and unifying power of the gospel would be evident through our laboring.
DAY 5: Pray for members of our Faith Family and others in the community who will be investing in disciple-making relationships with Oliver families through one of the many serving opportunities at Oliver beginning this Fall.
DAY 6: Pray for the Lord to bless the students at Oliver and their families as well as the teachers and staff, and that He would draw them to Himself.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for Brook Hills Mid-Termer, Lindsey A. serving in East Asia. Lindsey is currently serving with our East Asia Church Planting team this summer. There she is fueling the long- term work by building relationships and sharing the gospel with people she meets. Lindsey will be returning to us from East Asia this week, so join us as we pray for her final days in East Asia.
DAY 1: Praise God for the opportunity Lindsey has had to serve our East Asia Church Planting Team this summer. Pray for God to use her obedience to produce fruit in the lives of those who have heard the gospel from Lindsey.
DAY 2: Pray for Lindsey to be obedient in the guidance of the Holy Spirit and faithful to boldly proclaim the good news even amongst awkward or unreceptive circumstances.
DAY 3: Many of the people Lindsey has shared with actually believe the gospel is good news. However they believe their good action and own beliefs will be sufficient. Pray for these men and women to see their need for a Savior and to understand that there is only one way to the Father and that is through Christ.
DAY 4: Lindsey shared the gospel with a woman who claimed to be a mix of Buddhist and Taoist, but still doubted the sufficiency of these religions to grant salvation. Praise God for her doubts. Pray for this woman. Pray for the Holy Spirit to draw her near and cause her to seek after the true God and the gospel that Lindsey shared with her.
DAY 5: Lindsey will be leaving the East Asia Church Planting Team this week to return home to Birmingham. Pray for encouraging conversations and joyful goodbyes as they leave one another. Pray for God to use this summer as a way to confirm in Lindsey’s heart what He is calling her to.
DAY 6: Pray for Lindsey to have a smooth transition back to Birmingham and prepares to start school this fall.
Praise the King
Verse 1
There's a reason why the curse of sin is broken
There's a reason why the darkness runs from light
There's a reason why we stand here now forgiven
Jesus is alive
Verse 2
There’s a reason why we are not overtaken
There’s a reason why we sing on through the night
There’s a reason why our hope remains eternal
Jesus is alive
Chorus
Praise the King He is risen
Praise the King He's alive (yeah)
Praise the King death's defeated
Hallelujah He's alive (oh)
(Hallelujah He's alive)
Verse 3
There's a reason why our hearts can be courageous
There's a reason why the dead are made alive
There's a reason why we share His resurrection
Jesus is alive (oh He's alive)
Bridge
The grave could not ignore it
When all of heaven's roaring
Hell where is your victory
Death where is your sting
The world could not ignore it
When all the saints are roaring
Hell where is your victory
Death where is your sting
Hallelujah He’s alive (oh)
Hallelujah He’s alive (oh)
Hallelujah He’s alive
How Great Is Your Faithfulness
Chorus
The heavens ring
The saints all sing
Great is Your faithfulness
From age to age we will proclaim
Great is Your faithfulness
How great is Your faithfulness
Verse 1
Now unto the King who reigns over all
And never changes or turns
Unfailing justice unfading grace
Whose promises remain
Yes Your promises remain
Verse 2
Ev'rything changes but You stay the same
Your Word and kingdom endure
We lean on the promise of all that You are
And trust forevermore
We will trust forevermore
Bridge
From generation to generation
You never failed us O God
Yesterday and today and tomorrow
Until the day You return
Now Why This Fear
Verse 1
Now why this fear and unbelief
Has not the Father put to grief
His spotless Son for us
And will the righteous Judge of men
Condemn me for that debt of sin
Now canceled at the cross
Chorus
Jesus all my trust is in Your blood
Jesus You've rescued us
Through Your great love
Verse 2
Complete atonement You have made
And by Your death have fully paid
The debt Your people owed
No wrath remains for us to face
We're sheltered by Your saving grace
And sprinkled with Your blood
Bridge
How sweet the sound of saving grace
How sweet the sound of saving grace
Christ died for me
Verse 3
Be still my soul and know this peace
The merits of your great High Priest
Have bought your liberty
Rely then on His precious blood
Don't fear your banishment from God
Since Jesus sets you free
Before the Throne of God Above
Verse 1
Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea
A great High Priest whose name is love
Who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on His hands
My name is written on His heart
I know that while in heav’n He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
No tongue can bid me thence depart
Verse 2
When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free
For God the Just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me
To look on Him and pardon me
Verse 3
Behold Him there, the risen Lamb
My perfect, spotless Righteousness
The great unchangeable I AM
The King of glory and of grace
One with Himself, I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Savior and my God
With Christ my Savior and my God
O Church Arise
Verse 1
O church arise and put your armour on
Hear the call of Christ our Captain
For now the weak can say that they are strong
In the strength that God has given
With shield of faith and belt of truth
We'll stand against the devil's lies
An army bold whose battle cry is Love
Reaching out to those in darkness
Verse 2
Our call to war to love the captive soul
But to rage against the captor
And with the sword that makes the wounded whole
We will fight with faith and valour
When faced with trials on every side
We know the outcome is secure
And Christ will have the prize for which He died
An inheritance of nations
Verse 3
Come see the cross where love and mercy meet
As the Son of God is stricken
Then see His foes lie crushed beneath His feet
For the Conqueror has risen
And as the stone is rolled away
And Christ emerges from the grave
This victory march continues till the day
Every eye and heart shall see Him
Verse 4
So Spirit come put strength in every stride
Give grace for every hurdle
That we may run with faith to win the prize
Of a servant good and faithful
As saints of old still line the way
Retelling triumphs of His grace
We hear their calls and hunger for the day
When with Christ we stand in glory
