Pray for the Church
Praise God for the gift of His Word. Ask Him to grow our understanding of the Scriptures. Pray for us all to be continuously transformed by our study of the Bible. Ask God to grant us His wisdom.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes and Family Ministries. ABCH strives to protect, nurture, and restore children and families through Christ-centered services such as homes for children, Family Care Homes for homeless mothers and their children, foster care recruitment and training, professional counseling for families and children, camps and events for foster families, and seminars on child and family issues. We’re also praying for Grace Life Baptist Church and Pastor Joel Frederick.
Day 1: Join in the ministry of foster parenting by praying for foster parents and foster children as they worship in their local churches today. The parents need replenishment and the children need healing, salvation, and spiritual development.
Day 2: Come alongside foster children in prayer as they journey through their school year. It can be very difficult for them as they enter new schools and try to make new friends. Pray for their teachers, tutors, and administrators to have wisdom and understanding of how to meet their needs.
Day 3: Today we are supporting social workers in prayer. Every ABCH foster family receives a social worker to help support their family while fostering. These social workers can find themselves doing almost anything you could imagine on a given day from sitting bedside of a sick child in the hospital to advocating in courts or school for the needs of children.
Day 4: Join us as we pray for the many resources being invested in ABCH statewide. ABCH is the largest faith-based provider of foster care services in the state, so it requires a lot of resources. The noncash donations they receive, like new diapers, strollers, and clothes, mean so much to the foster families. Cash donations from individuals, businesses, and churches transform lives through events like Camp of Champions.
Day 5: Pray for the biological parents of foster children. The goal of ABCH is to see as many families reunified as possible, which typically amounts to 80-85% of children. Pray biological families experience love from Christians in a way they never have before, and for that experience to be transforming for them.
Day 6: Pray for the churches that serve these foster families. Pray these churches will be a supportive and welcoming environment for families to be encouraged and children to be safe and loved.
Pray for the World
This week, we are praying for the Zaza People Group. The Zaza people are an ethnic people group of around 3 million people. They speak Northern, Central, and Southern dialects of Zazaki in their home, but speak the majority language of the country in which they reside outside the home. They are an Islamic people group and are divided into Sunni Zaza peoples and Alevi Zaza peoples.
Day 1: Translation work is being done to translate the New Testament into Zaza. Pray for those who are doing the work. Pray that God’s Word would be available for all Zaza to read for themselves.
Day 2: Many Zaza people are farmers, shepherds, and fishermen. Pray for the natural resources in the Zaza heartland, as it has been in a drought for many years.
Day 3: Pray for the local churches in the country. Pray for boldness to share the Good News with their families and friends. Pray for God’s Kingdom to come and His will to be done in the Zaza heartland.
Day 4: Pray for endurance for the national families as they constantly pour themselves out for those around them. Pray they would stay grounded in the Word and their sustainment and passion for ministry would be found only in Christ.
Day 5: Pray for ongoing relief work that local churches are involved with after the earthquake that hit the region in the spring. Pray for local and sent workers to find their refreshment in Jesus alone. Pray for strength and stamina and for the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ to sustain them.
Day 6: Pray for the unreached towns and villages that have little access to the gospel. Pray for people to hear and understand the Word in their heart language.
