Pray for the Church
Thank God for calling us to join Him on His mission of making disciples. Pray for us all to courageously and confidently embrace our role in His mission. Pray we will be bold witnesses to the gospel. Ask God to call out from among us more for us to intentionally send out here and around the world.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Banks Academy, a private Christian middle and high school in the northeast side of Birmingham with a mission to train and educate students with excellence and provide them hope for a bright future. They are celebrating nine years of serving families in the Birmingham area. They are currently located in Huffman Baptist Church. Banks Academy was founded by Brook Hills member, Darryl White, along with Randy Overstreet, Ben Deloach, and Ginger Burkett. We’re also praying this week for Mountain Brook Community Church and Pastor Tim Kallam.
Day 1: Pray for Dr. Cathy Trimble, Banks Academy Principal, and Cas McWaters, the Executive Director. Pray for their wisdom in working with the teachers, staff, and students. Pray for them to inspire and encourage students to display a spirit of excellence in all aspects of their lives.
Day 2: Pray for the Banks Academy teachers. Pray for them to encourage and support each other throughout the day. Pray they will have ears of discernment to hear the spiritual needs of every student.
Day 3: Pray for the Banks Academy students. Pray that the life-changing message of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection will be received and lived out in the student’s lives. Pray for a hedge of protection around the school to keep the shootings and other ungodly influences away from students, staff, and families.
Day 4: Pray for the Banks Academy board members. Pray for them to be clearly led in all decision-making by the Lord, including where to add services and facilities to enhance the education and school experience.
Day 5: Pray for the Lord to be gracious to Banks Academy and its financial needs. Pray that the entire $1,800,00 budget for the 2023-24 school year will be met by the Lord through the inspiration of His people. Pray for donors to visit the school and see the positive impact Banks Academy has in the students' lives.
Day 6: Pray that Satan will not be effective in his desire to kill, steal, and destroy the ministry and families of Banks Academy. Pray that the love of Christ will be evident in the daily activities at the school and that the hallways and classes will be a positive and safe place for all the students.
Pray for the World
This week, we are praying for one of our mid-term partners, Deanna N. She serves with Real Hope for Haiti, supporting the missionaries by teaching their kids. Real Hope for Haiti is a medical mission organization seeking to share the love of Christ through meeting the physical needs of malnourished children and other patients.
Day 1: Pray for Haiti. The country is facing political, social, and economic upheaval, with increasing gang violence. Pray for peace. Pray that God would supernaturally move in the hearts and lives of those perpetrating violence in Haiti, whether it be through Christian witness, dreams from God, or the Spirit convicting them to turn to Christ.
Day 2: Pray for the children of Haiti as they prepare to begin a new school year with an incredible amount of uncertainty about the future. Pray for teachers to be bold and courageous to come to school each day and teach.
Day 3: Pray for the international community that continues to seek a coalition of troops to help restore order in Haiti. Praise God for the support they have received from Kenya, Jamaica, and the Bahamas, who have pledged to put boots on the ground in Haiti.
Day 4: Pray for safety for the Real Hope for Haiti staff. Pray for them as they travel to get supplies from the larger cities. Pray for the staff as they seek to help all the displaced people who show up in their city.
Day 5: Pray for Deanna as she begins her 9th year teaching there. Pray that she will be able to meet the needs of her students and that they will learn and thrive under her teaching. Pray that she will display the love of Christ to them and lead them to connect more with their local community.
Day 6: Pray for Deanna as she heads back to Haiti in September. Pray that she will learn to abide deeply. Pray that she will be sensitive to the Lord’s leading every day. Pray that she will shine brightly for Christ in all she does and that God will continue to be her source and strength every day.
