Pray for the Church
Praise God for bringing us to the start of a new ministry year. Pray for our preschoolers, kids, and students to grow in their faith and knowledge of God’s Word. Ask God to bless and strengthen all the volunteers in our age-group ministries as they serve faithfully week in and week out. Ask God to grow our unity and community as a church through our small groups. Pray for all those in our faith family who are not yet in a small group to find the right one for them to help them grow in Christ.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Blanket Fort Hope (blanketforthope.org), a Christian ministry in the Birmingham area working in partnership with Alabama DHR to care for child survivors of trafficking. They seek to be a fortress of safety by providing love and care through education and prevention, housing, legal services, and a long-term commitment to forging a path of purpose and hope for these children. We are also praying for Calera Baptist Church and Pastor Jason Jarvis.
Day 1: Pray for the children, traffickers, and “Johns.” Pray that the children currently being trafficked throughout the United States are protected, rescued, restored, and come to know Jesus who can make all things new. Pray that the traffickers and the “Johns” will come to know our Lord and repent.
Day 2: Praise God for the abundant favor He has shown Blanket Fort Hope in their work with Alabama DHR and other important officials. Pray that the Lord would continue to show favor to BFH and to continue to make clear the path as they work to help restore victims of child trafficking.
Day 3: Pray for the Blanket Fort Hope Restoration Home. Blanket Fort Hope is currently completing its final request for funding and licensing as well as preliminary steps to hiring an Executive Director over the Home, House Parents, and other staff. Pray for God’s grace and provision over this 4 to 6 month process that will coincide with the construction of the center.
Day 4: Pray for financial provision for Blanket Fort Hope. Pray for the Hold the Fort 5K/10K/1 Mile Walk happening on September 16 and the Restoring Hope Gala on February 29. Pray that the Lord would send generous donors to participate and sponsor both events. Pray for continual generosity through regular giving for the sustainment of the Restoration Home.
Day 5: Pray for Alexa’s (CEO) health and healing as she undergoes several important medical procedures this month. Pray for Brook Hills member Phaedra Galloway in her role as Project Manager for Blanket Fort Hope. Pray for new staff, Ellie and Kat, Development, and Marketing coordinators as they settle into their roles.
Day 6: Pray for the Blanket Fort Hope staff, board members, and volunteers. Pray they would do the work God has set out for them with wisdom, grace, joy, and gratitude. Pray against all spiritual warfare for them and their families.
Pray for the World
This week, we are praying for some of our Long Termers serving in Southeast Asia among some of the most unreached. They are trying to reach their Muslim neighbors and friends with the gospel, as well as reaching out to refugees that have been relocated to their city.
Day 1: Please be in prayer for this family as they are looking for people who are open to the gospel and are willing to meet and study. Pray that the Lord would prepare the hearts of those with whom they come into contact.
Day 2: Please pray for the small groups that this family are meeting with to grow and continue to go deep in God’s Word as they learn together.
Day 3: Pray for openness among the women in the refugee community. The men seem to be more open and want to meet, but the women are struggling to meet regularly and truly share from their hearts. Pray for transparency and for them to feel safe to share openly.
Day 4: Pray against spiritual attacks of the enemy on their family and friends in the city. This has come in the form of discouragement and sickness in the past. Pray that the workers in their city would lean hard into Jesus during the ups and downs of living life overseas.
Day 5: Pray for their business. This business platform allows them to be in the country. They need wisdom about how to run the platform more smoothly and they need help in daily operations. Pray that God would continue to use this business for his glory and for their good. Pray for them to “work heartily as unto the Lord” in all they do.
Day 6: Pray for their family. They have 2 children and are pregnant with their third. Medical care isn’t the best in their city, so pray for wisdom as they decide on where to have their baby, either in another city or a nearby country in Southeast Asia. Pray for a healthy pregnancy. Pray for the family as they adjust and for the peace of God to wash over them as they grow.
