Pray for the Church
Praise God for inviting us into conversation with Him through prayer. Pray for wisdom and humility for those in positions of authority and for them to submit their lives to Christ. Pray for those who do not yet know Christ to be open to the gospel and for opportunities for us to share with them. Ask the Spirit to guide our understanding as we study such counter-culture Scriptures like 1 Timothy 2.
Pray for the City
This week, we are praying for our ESL (English as a Second Language) Ministry. The ESL Ministry aims to meet an essential need for English learners while providing a strategic avenue for God’s character to be displayed and His gospel to be declared to internationals living in our city. To learn how you can serve internationals through our ESL Ministry, visit brookhills.org/serveESL. We are also praying for Birmingham International Church and Pastor Ron Higey.
DAY 1: Thank God for the rich diversity of cultures, nationalities, and languages that He has brought to our ESL program! Pray for Him to bring more students from unreached people groups to our classes this year, which begin September 14. Pray especially for our new women’s classes on Thursday mornings.
DAY 2: Pray for every student who enters our ESL program to hear and understand the gospel of Christ through authentic, meaningful relationships with their teachers and other volunteers.
DAY 3: Pray for every volunteer to be passionate for ministry and effective in their roles as they serve to the glory of God. Pray for the ESL leadership team to be yielded to the Holy Spirit at every turn. Pray for Hanna Taylor as she leads this ministry on top of her role as Administrative Assistant for Local Missions.
DAY 4: Pray for the international kids participating in the ESL Children and Preschool program. Pray they will grow both academically and spiritually as we provide educational support through biblical content.
DAY 5: Pray for our students to retain what they learn, and for God to grant them favor to learn English quickly.
DAY 6: Ask for God’s blessing as we seek to make disciples of all nations through the ESL Ministry. Pray for the gospel to speed ahead and be honored among our students!
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the citizens of Texas who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey and for our partner, Samaritan’s Purse, as they provide help in the aftermath of the storm. Hurricane Harvey made landfall this last weekend, and the effects have been devastating. Samaritan’s Purse has deployed all of their disaster relief units and partnered with 25 local churches in the most affected areas as their bases for help. Join us as we pray for those affected by Hurricane Harvey and for those who have come to relieve some of the suffering.
DAY 1: Praise God that Christ is more powerful than nature. Praise God that Christ is more powerful than death. Pray for this to be evident in the coming days as people grieve and begin to rebuild their lives.
DAY 2: Pray for God to receive glory and to show mercy in this time of suffering.
DAY 3: Pray for the citizens of Texas to find strength in Christ. Pray for God to provide for every need. Pray for God to give comfort to all that are suffering.
DAY 4: Pray for the staff and volunteers at Samaritan’s Purse as they mobilize and set up disaster units at churches scattered in the most devastated areas. Pray for wisdom on how to most effectively provide relief and help. Pray for the gospel to be evident as they serve.
DAY 5: Pray for state leadership, starting with the Governor of Texas, Governor Abbot, and all others who are working tirelessly to look after and care for their cities and communities.
DAY 6: Pray for the church to mobilize and show the gospel through their acts of service and help in the coming weeks, months, and years.

God Is Able
Verse 1
God is able
He will never fail
He is Almighty God
Greater than all we seek
Greater than all we ask
He has done great things
Chorus
Lifted up He defeated the grave
Raised to life our God is able
In His Name we overcome
For the Lord our God is able
Verse 2
God is with us
God is on our side
He will make a way
Far above all we know
Far above all we hope
He has done great things
Bridge
God is with us
He will go before
He will never leave us
He will never leave us
God is for us
He has open arms
He will never fail us
He will never fail us
Death Was Arrested
Verse 1
Alone in my sorrow and dead in my sin
Lost without hope with no place to begin
Your love made a way to let mercy come in
When death was arrested and my life began
Verse 2
Ash was redeemed only beauty remains
My orphan heart was given a name
My mourning grew quiet my feet rose to dance
When death was arrested and my life began
Chorus 1
Oh Your grace so free washes over me
You have made me new now life begins with You
Verse 3
Released from my chains I'm a prisoner no more
My shame was a ransom He faithfully bore
He cancelled my debt and He called me His friend Oh
When death was arrested and my life began
Chorus 2
Oh Your grace so free washes over me
You have made me new now life begins with You
It's Your endless love pouring down on us
You have made us new now life begins with You
Oh yes it does
Verse 4
Our Savior displayed on a criminal's cross
Darkness rejoiced as though Heaven had lost
But then Jesus arose with our freedom in hand
That's when death was arrested and my life began
That's when death was arrested and my life began
Bridge
Oh we're free free forever we're free
Come join the song of all the redeemed
Yes we're free free forever amen
When death was arrested and my life began
Ending
When death was arrested and my life began
That's when death was arrested and my life began
Worthy of Your Name
Worthy Of Your Name
Verse 1
Rumors of the Son of Man
Stories of a Savior
Holiness with human hands
Treasure for the traitor
No ear has heard no eye has seen
The image of the Father
Until heaven came to live with me
A rescue like no other
Chorus 1
(Yes) You are worthy
You are worthy of Your name
You are worthy yes You are
You are worthy of Your name Jesus
Verse 2
You did not speak You made no sound
You died for Your accusers
And as Your blood fell to the ground
You redefined my future
Yeah on the day that You arose
The darkness ran for cover
For the King of kings has claimed His throne
Now until forever
Bridge
You're my author my maker my ransom my Savior
My refuge my hiding place
You're my helper my healer my blessed Redeemer
My answer my saving grace
You're my hope in the shadows
My strength in the battle
My anchor for all my days
And You stand by my side and You stood in my place
Jesus no other name
Only Jesus no other name
Chorus 2
You are worthy
You are worthy of Your name
You are worthy yeah
You are worthy of Your name
You are worthy
You are worthy of Your name
You are worthy yes You are
You are worthy of Your name Jesus
Beneath the Waters (I Will Rise)
Verse 1
This is my revelation
Christ Jesus crucified
Salvation through repentance
At the cross on which He died
Verse 2
Now here my absolution
Forgiveness for my sin
And I sink beneath the waters
That Christ was buried in
Chorus 1
I will rise
I will rise
As Christ was raised to life
Now in Him
Now in Him I live
Verse 3
I stand a new creation
Baptised in blood and fire
No fear of condemnation
By faith I'm justified
Bridge
I rise as You are risen
Declare Your rule and reign
My life confess Your Lordship
And glorify Your Name
Your word it stands eternal
Your kingdom knows no end
Your praise goes on forever
And on and on again
No pow'r can stand against You
No curse assault Your throne
No one can steal Your glory
For it is Yours alone
I stand to sing Your praises
I stand to testify
For I was dead in my sin
Chorus 2
But now I rise
I will rise
As Christ was raised to life
Now in Him
Now in Him I live
Before the Throne of God Above
Verse 1
Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea
A great High Priest whose name is love
Who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on His hands
My name is written on His heart
I know that while in heav’n He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
No tongue can bid me thence depart
Verse 2
When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free
For God the Just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me
To look on Him and pardon me
Verse 3
Behold Him there, the risen Lamb
My perfect, spotless Righteousness
The great unchangeable I AM
The King of glory and of grace
One with Himself, I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Savior and my God
With Christ my Savior and my God
