Pray for the Church
Praise God for the opportunity we have to gather together for worship each week. Pray for us to use our time gathered with others around tables together to share and celebrate the gospel. Thank God for the reminder we have of Jesus' sacrifice in our celebration of the Lord's Supper.
Pray for the City
This week, we are praying for The Lovelady Center, a residential Christian ministry dedicated to empowering women to overcome barriers such as addiction, homelessness, and re-entry from prison; and to walk forward with faith-driven hope for the future. The Lovelady Center serves over 500 women and children daily and is the largest transitional program of its kind in the country. The women and their children stay six to nine months and then WorkFaith Birmingham prepares many of them for work as they leave the center.
Day 1: Pray for revival at The Lovelady Center. Pray that all of the women and children at The Lovelady Center will be open and responsive to the Gospel and receptive to the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
Day 2: Pray for the children of the Lovelady’s as school begins. Pray that educators and providers will be able to meet the needs of the children academically and emotionally. Pray for the children to develop a passion for God and people. Pray that their previous trauma would not negatively impact their future.
Day 3: Pray for safety for all The Lovelady participants. Pray for a hedge of protection around The Lovelady Center, the clients and volunteers, the children, and transportation of the ladies and their children traveling to appointments and work.
Day 4: Pray for the upcoming Lovelady Alumni event on October 23rd. Pray that the Lord would make a way for all of the past graduates to attend. Pray that the message would both strengthen and empower the women. Pray also for that Gospel seeds that have been planted and are being watered in the lives of the women not able to attend.
Day 5: Pray for the generous champions of The Lovelady Center. Pray that each generous donor and volunteer would be abundantly rewarded for the giving of their gifts.
Day 6: Pray for continued financial provision for The Lovelady Center. Pray that the funds given by generous donors and partners would match the current ministry needs. Pray for wisdom as the board and staff seek to always be good stewards of the financial gifts given.
Pray for the World
This week, we are praying for Mid-Termer, Abigail, and her husband Mark. Abigail was sent out by Brook Hills and married Mark earlier this year. He is a professional runner. Abigail works with international students on college campuses in Coventry, England, and works with local churches to mobilize them to reach out to international students in the city.
Day 1: Pray for Abigail and Mark. Pray for them as they settle into married life and learn more about each other. Pray for them as they learn how to best love one another, the way Christ loves the Church. As school starts back up, things will be getting into more of a routine for them. Pray that they would adjust well to this routine and that they will find time to pursue each other well.
Day 2: Pray for the new international student center at Coventry. Abigail and her teammate are running a new center at a new university that has the 3rd highest population of international students in the UK. Pray that they will be bold in their witness.
Day 3: Pray for Abigail as she directs the programs at the center. She feels responsible for everything that happens there. Pray for her to be wise in how she deals with teammates and with college students. Pray that God would send students that are willing to meet and ready to hear the gospel.
Day 4: Pray for the churches around Coventry. The goal of the center is to connect students to local churches. Pray that these churches will be engaged in the ministry on campus and with international students.
Day 5: Pray for the training days that are taking place in September and October for anyone who is interested in working with international students at Coventry. Pray that Abigail would lead these trainings well and that she would point back to Christ in all she does.
Day 6: Abigail and Mark are leading a home group with another couple. Pray that this time would be encouraging for everyone involved. Pray for deep connections and friendships. Pray that the gospel would be clear each and every week.
