Pray for the Church
Praise God for His gift of a new year. Pray for His help in living according to His will while anticipating Christ's return. Ask God to grow our trust in Him and reliance upon Him in every aspect of our lives. Thank Him for His ongoing guidance in our lives.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Mission Birmingham, a local Christian ministry using its extensive network in Birmingham to connect ministries and organizations together for gospel work and support. Mission Birmingham convenes leaders to develop strategic initiatives to effectively impact their community, connects volunteers with meaningful opportunities to serve, provides coaching for Christian ministry boards, and organizes city-wide prayer initiatives. We are also praying for Lakeside Baptist Church and Pastor Greg Corbin.
DAY 1: Pray for the Church in our city “to be perfected in unity, so that the world may know” the Father sent Jesus and loves them (John 17:23).
DAY 2: Pray, just as “righteousness and justice are the foundations of God’s throne,” the Church in Birmingham would learn to balance our zeal for righteousness with our zeal for justice (Psalm 89:14).
DAY 3: Pray for Mission Birmingham’s foundation in prayer to influence congregations in our region to become a “house of prayer for all nations” (Mark 11:17).
DAY 4: Pray for the new Mayor of Birmingham, Randall Woodfin, to lead well in his new role so that the people of the largest city in our state “may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity” (I Timothy 2:2).
DAY 5: Pray, just as “Mary who was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who were contributing to (Jesus and His disciples’) support out of their private means” to “go around from one city and village to another, proclaiming and preaching the kingdom of God,” for those who have been rescued and redeemed in our community to provide financial resources for those who minister to the needs of our city (Luke 8:3).
DAY 6: Pray “Christ’s kingdom would come, Christ’s will would be done” in Birmingham “as it is in heaven. For His is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen” (Matthew 6:10 & 13).
Pray for the World
This week, as we celebrate the last week of our Global Offering month, we want to spend time praying for our partners at Neverthirst and the projects we have been able to support this past year in Cambodia. In Cambodia, almost 5.4 million people get their drinking water from an unsafe source. This causes sickness, extra expenditures, and physical stress when water is not readily available. Through the Global Offering, Brook Hills has been able to build water wells and bio-sand filters in partnership with local believers and churches. This provides access to clean water and access to the gospel for rural villagers throughout Cambodia. Join us this week as we pray for Neverthirst and those who have been impacted by our partnership this year.
DAY 1: Praise God for allowing our faith family to participate in bringing clean water and the good news of living water in Christ to rural villages throughout Cambodia.
DAY 2: Pray for the local believers and pastors in Cambodia as they share the gospel with their communities. Pray for the new access to clean water sources to draw many in the village so gospel conversations can happen and many will hear about Christ.
DAY 3: Praise God for how He has used Neverthirst in 2017. Pray for God to continue to open doors into new countries and communities who need access to clean water and to Christ.
DAY 4: Pray for God to move in the villages of Cambodia where Neverthirst is working. Pray for many to repent and believe in Christ.
DAY 5: Pray for God to give wisdom to the leadership of Neverthirst. Pray for God to make them successful in strengthening the local church in Cambodia.
DAY 6: Pray for God to be glorified as we partner with Neverthirst. Pray for our church to continue to provide for the urgent physical and spiritual needs of those around the world.
