Pray for the Church
Praise God for Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross, which made the way for us to be reconciled to Him. Confess and repent of your own sin in your life, and ask and thank God for His forgiveness. Praise Him for Jesus’ resurrection, which demonstrates His power over sin and death. Thank God for the faith He grants us by His grace so we might be saved.
Pray for the City
In honor of April being 2nd Chances Month, this week we are praying for Prison Fellowship, a Christian ministry begun by Chuck Colson after his conversion in prison, that aims to see all who are affected by crime and incarceration reconciled to God, their families, and their communities. They provide Biblical instruction and support in prisons throughout the US, care for families affected by crime, and advocate for equal justice for all and second chances for the formerly incarcerated. We are also praying for Brook Hills member, Jeremy Miller, who leads out in these efforts throughout our state as Alabama’s Prison Fellowship Field Director. Additionally, we are praying for Briarwood Presbyterian Church and their pastoral search team.
DAY 1: Pray for those who have been recently released from prison and are seeking a second chance in society. Every person has dignity and potential. Pray for the unlocking of second chances for all those with a criminal record who have paid their debt to society.
DAY 2: Pray for the Prison Fellowship Academies inside of St. Clair Correctional, Bibb Correctional, Donaldson Correctional, Elmore Correctional, Bullock Correctional, Julia Tutwiler Prison for Women, and Birmingham Work Release. Pray for transformed lives and renewed minds for the 220 men and 45 women in these academies that meet 2-3 times a week studying God’s Word.
DAY 3: Pray for Prison Fellowship’s Easter Hope events coming up this month. Pray for the incarcerated men who will hopefully be able to attend these evangelistic services. Pray their hearts would be open to the gospel.
DAY 4: Pray for Prison Fellowship’s Angel Tree families across the state of Alabama. Pray their lives would be impacted by the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray for these children of incarcerated parents to not follow in the path of their parents but to seek to live crime-free God-honoring lives.
DAY 5: Pray for Prison Fellowship’s Alabama Field Director, Jeremy Miller as he provides leadership to all these programs and events in the state. Pray for wisdom, strength, and discernment as he interacts with the incarcerated, volunteers and state officials daily.
DAY 6: Pray for the physical, mental, and spiritual health and the well-being of those who are incarcerated in our state’s prison system. Pray for safety during these times of stress from lockdown and reduced security staff.
Pray for the World
This week, we are continuing to pray for the over 1.8 billion Muslims around the world who are celebrating Ramadan. This is the last week of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. For this month, Muslims all over the world have been abstaining from food, drink, and other pleasures during the day to try and remove their sin and draw closer to God. Join us this week as we pray for specific Muslim people groups and majority Muslim places around the world.
DAY 1: Pray for God to reveal himself to Malay Muslims this week in dreams and visions. Pray for God to help them see their need for a Savior and that Christ is the only one who can save. Pray for our long-termers and mid-termers working with this people group.
DAY 2: Pray for God to soften the hearts of Baloch men and women to the gospel and for Christ to be revealed, leading them in the way of truth. Pray for believers among the Baloch to be bold as they share the good news of Jesus Christ.
DAY 3: Pray for large urban centers like Dubai. Pray for Muslims from around the world who live and work in this city to meet believers and hear the good news. Pray for the small pockets of believers who live in majority Muslim populations all over the world to have boldness, courage, and passion as they proclaim the good news of Christ to their Muslim friends and family this month.
DAY 4: The largest population of Muslims in the world are in Indonesia. Pray for God to move among the Sunda people in Indonesia. Pray for churches being planted throughout Indonesia and for workers who are laboring to bring the gospel to this nation and people.
DAY 5: Pray for Somali Muslims living in the United States. Pray for God to provide opportunities for gospel conversations to take place this last week of Ramadan with believers who are engaging them. Pray for more access to Somalis and others around the USA.
DAY 6: Pray for Turks and Kurds in Turkey during Ramadan. Pray for the message of salvation by grace and through faith in Christ alone might somehow be proclaimed to families this week
