Pray for the Church
Praise God for sending His Son, Jesus Christ, on that first Christmas so long ago. Pray for opportunities to share the message of Christmas with others we encounter over the holidays. Ask God to soften the hearts of those who will hear the gospel through so many times of celebration and to grant them ears to hear and faith to believe. Pray for Got to use us all individually and corporately as a church to carry His gospel to many who have not yet heard, that we might celebrate Christmas next year with new brothers and sisters in Christ.
Pray for the City
This week, we are praying for The Lovelady Center, a residential Christian ministry dedicated to empowering women to overcome barriers such as addiction, homelessness, and re-entry from prison; and to walk forward with faith-driven hope for the future. The Lovelady Center serves over 500 women and children daily and is the largest transitional program of its kind in the country. The women and their children stay six to nine months and then WorkFaith
Birmingham prepares many of them for work as they leave the Center. We are also praying for Hope Mountain Church and Pastor Deric Thomas.
Day 1: Pray for salvations and continual revival at The Lovelady Center. Pray that all of the women and children at The
Lovelady Center will be open and responsive to the Gospel and receptive to the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in
their lives.
Day 2: Pray for the children of the Lovelady’s Center. Pray that educators and providers will be able to meet the needs
of the children academically and emotionally. Pray for the children to develop a passion for God and people. Pray that
their previous trauma would not negatively impact their future.
Day 3: Pray for safety for all The Lovelady participants. Pray for a hedge of protection around The Lovelady Center, the
clients and volunteers, the children, and transportation of the ladies and their children traveling to appointments and
work.
Day 4: Pray for the Lovelady’s Santa’s Workshop, where mothers will be able to choose a special gift for their child for
Christmas. Pray that an abundance of gifts would be provided, especially for teenage boys, who are particularly hard
to shop for. Pray that as each child receives this special gift from their mom, they would better understand the even
greater gift that is Christmas.
Day 5: Pray for the generous champions of The Lovelady Center. Pray that each generous donor and volunteer would
be abundantly rewarded for the giving of their gifts.
Day 6: Pray for continued financial provision for The Lovelady Center. Pray that the funds given by generous donors
and partners would match the current ministry needs. Pray for wisdom as the board and staff seek to always be good
stewards of the financial gifts given.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for our long-termers Scott & Rebekah as we commission them to serve in Central Asia. Scott and Rebekah have both served overseas as single adults. They were recently married and are now headed back out as a couple. They will be leaving in January for training and will be on the field some time in the spring of 2025. Please pray for them in the following ways:
DAY 1: Ask the Lord to give Scott and Rebekah strength and peace as they prepare to leave and say goodbye to family and friends as they transition back to life overseas.
DAY 2: Pray for their transition as a married couple to a new team, new location and full time language learning. Ask God to give them supernatural understanding and comprehension in their language learning.
DAY 3: Ask God to give them opportunities to regularly visit the region where they want to intentionally reach the unengaged people group the Lord has called them to.
DAY 4: Pray that as they go to the people group they desire to reach that their presence among them would lead to fruitful gospel conversations.
DAY 5: Pray that the Bible would be translated in their people group’s heart language and that the Lord would provide the resources in order for this to happen.
DAY 6: Pray for Scott and Rebkah’s long-term teammates and local partners, that they would be of one mind and unified in the effort to reach the unengaged area where they will be serving with the Good News.
