Pray for the Church
Praise God for the gift of family. Ask Him to strengthen the families in our church. Pray for families to reflect the family of God in the church. Pray for families to look for ways to help one another grow in their faith and serve on mission together.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for our partner school, Oliver Elementary, and the many avenues through which Brook Hills members are investing in the lives of Oliver students, families, and staff throughout the 2019-20 school year. We are also praying for First Baptist Church Trussville and Pastor Buddy Champion.
Day 1: Praise God for continued favor with the school staff who have welcomed us into another year of partnering with them to build meaningful relationships with Oliver students and families. Pray for God’s continued grace as we aim to glorify Him through
this partnership.
Day 2: Pray for the teachers and staff who are influencing and educating Oliver students on a daily basis. Pray for them to be wise, skilled, patient, and compassionate as they model a life of integrity for their students.
Day 3: Pray for the volunteers serving as reading, math, and teacher helpers. Pray they will form bonds of trust with the students and will demonstrate the love of Christ.
Day 4: Pray for the Brook Hills members serving with our Love Oliver partners (Oak Tree Ministries, Discovery Clubs, and Aspire) to make disciples among Oliver families.
Day 5: Pray for wisdom in how best to steward the remaining Love Oliver funds to meet urgent needs, provide academic resources, and bless the staff and teachers.
Day 6: Pray for peace in the community of Gate City. Pray for God’s people, especially those under our influence and our partner’s influence, to become beacons of light and hope in these areas.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the citizens of the Bahamas affected by Hurricane Dorian. The Category 5 hurricane flooded local medical facilities, cut off roads and destroyed homes. Much of the island has been left without access to critically needed medical care, clean water, food and shelter. There are many in need. Join us as we pray for those who are suffering, and those who are helping in the recovering and cleanup of this beautiful island.
Day 1: Pray for Bahamians who have been affected by Hurricane Dorian. Pray for God to be merciful to those who are living in the devastated areas and for those still in need of rescue. Pray for God to provide for those who are suffering.
Day 2: Pray for government and local agency leaders who are working tirelessly to look after and care for their cities and communities. Pray for God to grant them wisdom and discernment as they do what is right and best for those affected by the storm.
Day 3: Pray for first responders and those who will come after them to help with recovery and cleanup.
Day 4: Pray for God to receive glory in this time of suffering.
Day 5: Pray for organizations like Samaritan’s Purse, Baptist Global Response, and other disaster relief partners who are mobilized to help in the Bahamas. Pray for God to give them opportunities to provide real long-term help to individuals and families in need.
Day 6: Pray for God to provide the needed resources for the initial relief and long-term rebuilding of communities in the Bahamas.
